ECL1P53 will be out on the shelves on the 23rd :)

I called Wal Mart corporate HQ this morning and spoke with Anderson, the company that is contracted nationally to handle their media displays. I explained the past difficulties with finding new products on their release days. The Anderson reps are in the stores daily, but they normally put out new release CD's/DVD's every Tuesday. This year, the 24th is a Tuesday.

The rep told me that due to another big CD release (probably Lady Gaga), they are having a special New Release Monday and that all new releases including ECL1P53 would be on all the shelves on the 23rd. They also mentioned that the store closest to me already has their ECL1P53 CDs in stock and ready to go. For anyone who knows me, you know what that means... let the harassment begin! :)

I also suggested that they have adequate displays out to help promote the CDs, and that maybe they can put some of the promotional material out a little early to get some interest going. So.... GO GET 'EM! :)

Journey should put you on their payroll, RIP!

Thanks for the heads up, I just so happen to have that day off, too! :D

The poorer the better... a $20 bill might work wonders! :)

Target appears to be the Official Lady Gaga launch store. I guess New Kids on The Block/Back Street Boys and Brad Paisley are considered big launches also.
What became of the Journey kiosk, is that still a go?

Not that any of this affects me in general. The closest Wal-Mart is 20 miles from me, so I'll pick up the official release when I have reason to pass that way over the weekend. No doubt there will be 'evaluation' copies already online Monday Night.

I'll TRY and refrain from a renewed scrutiny of the product until I have the CD, as opposed to the digital promo I was able to listen to already. I don't think the sonic upgrade will change much for me though. I think the good songs will still be good, the ones that suck will still suck and the lyrics will be..... what they are.

Soooooooo......Did anyone tell Journey?

And is Wal-Mart going to change the release date on their website?

Is the new album a single cd or are they releasing a making of dvd, a live cd, or anything else.

Also are there any bonus tracks for the over seas releases?

It's a single CD with twelve tracks.
The Japanese release will contain one bonus track; the live version of Don't Stop Believin', lifted from the Manila DVD.

There is an LP package and one with a free t-shirt you can get from the European release.

I'm happy for all the folks who pre-ordered, but this is the reason why I never do. :)

What I meant was, how will people that peruse their website before heading to the store know it will available on Monday instead of Tuesday?

Also, are they re-releasing the Sonic Boom package by Kiss on that same day? That album has been near the top of the bestsellers list the last few days (actually at #2 today behind Def Leppard).

I have no concern for them. I only care about myself... and all who follow me.

I wonder what the big push in sales is from?

I'm wondering about this as well. That album wasn't even that good, was it?

JRNYMAN had some great info on what to look for and how to get it when Journey in Manila came out. I think I posted some pics of the Anderson boxes, too. Don't Stop Besieging!

BTW, I though Sonic Boom was great! Glad it's making another push.

I agree! I really liked the album. I must say though, that I really haven't listened to it since a month or so after it came out. Same goes for Paul's last solo album. I really liked it at first, but just grew tired of it I guess. For his age, I'm still amazed at what he was able to pull off vocally. ESPECIALLY when you think of all of the wear and tear he's put it through.

Running night missions right now - the best time, because foot traffic is low and there are lots of boxes of stock being put out by young staff. Just left the first store, and persuaded one girl to show me the discs in the box. I'd asked her earlier, and I guess she was amused by the story and came and found me again to let me know she'd seen them. Took another 15 minutes of sweet talking and showing her pics from trips, but at least I've seen the physical product, and a guarantee that if she's working next Sunday she'll help me right at midnight.

On my way to the second store now. :)

This is the best line of the post right here...

Well, shit! I'm impressed.
So tell us, which disc sounds the best?
My friends and me always thought someone else Beatles record sounded better.
One even claimed that Paul was dead if you played it backwards! :D
