I suppose that's true enough, Perry was incredible, but I have to be honest that Arnel's voice is the one that does it for me. Just personal preference in the more subtle differences between the three singers.
Though at the core of it all, you're definitely right that the songs and musicianship has improved since he left. I think part of it has to do with the addition of Deen on drums and his wonderful back-up vocals in unison with either Augeri or Arnel. And on his own live for that matter.
