By the way, here in the States Wal-Mart is the ONLY distributor.

Yeah, but the reviews here are actually very good! By the way, Amazon is selling it in the US too for a very high price. Not sure if its released though. You can still put a review at Amazon UK which is selling it as well.

The only thing I can say so far is damn, I miss Mike Stone. The guy knew how to take Journey songs to the next level. Kevin Shirley doesn't have a clue. The guy has no idea how to produce/structure a song to take advantage of emotion or build momentum. I've read on here folks complaining about the thin drum sound and they're exactly right. And where the hell is the bass? IMO, Journey will always be mediocre as long as Shirley is at the helm. I thought the production was much, much better on Revelation (unfortunately, that one was a Revelation, now it's back to the same schlock).
One of the things that separates Journey from other bands are the great choruses with layers of vocals. Totally void on this album. somewhat understandable with the direction of this album, but hell, even the pre-Perry stuff had great choruses.
For years, I've wanted Schon to take control of the band back. I'm a big fan of the pre-Perry era, as well as Abraxas Pool and all of the Perry stuff through Raised On Radio. Unfortunately, this one falls way short for me. So far, I find the songs horribly generic. Thank God though, this one is absent the usual Cain cheese (I take that back, just got to "To Whom It May Concern" and "Someone")!! Revelation was a bizarre mix of a couple incredible tracks, some horribly cheesy tracks, and some that were enjoyable but somewhat forgettable. For me, there isn't anything on Eclipse that I would say is over the top great for me. On first listen, only "She's A Mystery" really stands out.
IMHO, while the rocking is a welcome change, I'm not much more impressed with this album than I was with any of the Augeri releases. That's not to say it's bad, but to compare this album to anything Journey put out in the Perry era (and I'm not a Perry fan at all) is a serious, serious stretch.
That said, as a Journey fan, I'll be at Wal-Mart on Tuesday to get it.
At best, I'd give Eclipse a 5/10. To put it in perspective, Revelation would've been a 7/10.
