Rip Is The Man!

Postby Saint John » Sun May 22, 2011 6:38 am

After several (7 but who's counting   ) failed attempts, between 2 Walmarts, to procure Eclipse, I finally broke down and enlisted the help of Rip Rokken, persuader extraordinaire! He made one phone call today, to the same Walmart that just assured me they could not, under any circumstances, sell it to me, and I now have the 5 copies I need awaiting me at Customer Service. Rip, my brother, a mighty big THANK YOU goes out to you. You are, quite simply, THE MAN!!! 8)

No problem - the thought of the legendary Saint John of MR getting p0wned by an angry 59-something year old cashier was a visual I couldn't accept. :)

Hey Rip if you care to do this again I would really appreciate it! I've been to my local Walmart twice with no luck. I did know the clerk the second time so I like to think that he really put forth his best effort, but no one there even knew what Eclipse was.

At an event right now, but PM me your store's location and phone number, zip code, and first name and contact info if you don't mind, plus the quantity you want to buy and I'll try to call this evening. (Quantity may help) Luckily, no need to break out the 7.65, lol... :)

I sense that beneath your affable nature lurks a dangerous and cunning intellect.
Rip, you might very well be the most dangerous man on the interwebz.

Of that, I have no doubt.
But I've watched Star Wars enough to know that highly intelligent, persuasive, and kind men always turn out to be Sith Lords plotting to topple the reigning government and rule the galaxy.
Darth Rokken shan't fool me!

J/k Rip, your reputation of magnanimity and munificence precedes you. :)

So Rip, don't you think the band would be pissed about this? (I'm asking a real question, not trying to be an ass)

Rip is pushing sales. I only planned on buying 3 copies but telling friends about my failure to procure Eclipse got their curiosity going and they asked that I pick them up a copy, too. Also, the cashier said something that I will soon be starting a thread about. It's simply unreal AND hilarious!

I'm confused as to the official release date.
Is it Monday or Tuesday?

Tuesday, as the cashiers at Walmart reminded me the last 3 days.

The official release date is the 24th, but it will actually be out on the 23rd. Unless we get to them first. :)

No, not at all. Nothing we do goes unnoticed anyway. ;)

It's true... :) I appreciate the thoughts, but I can definitely have a dark side at times. I'm not very good at sitting still, or being bored. Rock 'n' Roll is my Lexapro I guess. :)

So what is the source of your dark charisma, Lord Rokken? :P

For the stores, I'm just giving them the facts, because even the managers may not know. This one was very nice, but was under the impression the UPC's wouldn't scan or would show as 'invalid sale' if rung up. I just explained that we've been buying them at several Wal-Marts already, and just asked her to try to scan one. It was a pleasant exchange, and she was happy it all worked out.

Don't even mess with the cashiers... Ask for a manager or an Anderson employee if possible.
