After the first four tracks I had to pause and post. Holy shit! We wanted a more rockin Journey and we got it! No not typical usual pop rock! I do here emotion in Arnels voice plenty! Though I know some disagree! This is absolutely BRILLIANT! And if no one new who this music was made by they would be blown away!
I'm loving it! Gotta finish listening! \m/

Once you hear the whole thing, post which songs stick out the most after the first listen.

Frankly, the more I think about it, the more I'm flabergasted that a band this old is putting out something this good now.

I've always considered myself fortunate that Journey hasn't given up in that regard.

All these reviews have me really excited! I've been waiting for a harder rocking journey album and it looks like after years of kool-aid I finally got my wish.

Songs like City Of Hope, Tantra, She's A Mystery, To Whom It May Concern, Anything Is Possible and Someone are not "rockers." It's just that, overall, the album's songs rock a bit harder than the usual Journey ballad/mid-tempo/rocker. I find this album to have as many "excellent" songs as any album they've ever released. I just keep listening to it over and over. :?

I'd consider CoH, AiP, and Someone to be lite-rockers. They're not power ballads by any stretch.

I feel like a sponge in the desert just begging for water with this. Can't wait to write my review of this. Eclipse anxiety kicking in. Tried one of my local Wal-Marts.. no dice. I don't have the power that is the RIP to make it happen with the suites for me to leave with one haha. 8)

+1

I've walked away from bands for doing just that, so the fact Journey has put out my favorite Journey cd since Frontiers....and that's being nice and respectful...amazes me.

I woke up this morning and Tantra was running through my head. And it's not my favorite on the album. Why they haven't made records like this before is beyond me. It's all I listen to lately. Great job.

Yeah, I haven't really listened to much else besides Eclipse for the past few days. Really addictive stuff on this album.

I need a break from Swamp People... What's the phone number of that store, how many do you need, and which incognito band member would you like to be rumored to be?

COL, Tantra and Anything is Possible are standouts right now. Thing is, every day I wake with a different song running through my head. Eclipse is a very strong outing for Journey, one of my Favs in the whole catalog if I dare say so.

Good, or we'd have to taunt you about being a soccer fag.

Gotta say that my personal favorites are 'Chain of Love', 'Resonate' and 'Edge of the Moment'. Love the whole album overall though, but those three tracks are a terrific trio that rock my world. 8)

In fact, part of me wonders if the three are secretly a trilogy concerning the darker/serious aspects of love. Will investigate the matter more as time goes on.

That said, I'm really appreciating 'Tantra' now. I loved the song when I first heard it, and then it started to bore me as I replayed it, and now it's clicking with me.  But that said, it's a beautiful piece.

And before you ask, Don, I hate soccer. Basketball FTW.

Good man. :D
(Resonate's better than the other two, tho.)

I dunno about that one, bro. 'Resonate' is wonderful and a great demonstration of the blending of the classic Journey "hooks" with the top-notch musicianship of the band members, but 'Chain of Love' really rocks my world. Love that piano riff at the beginning. So haunting and moody, which I love...

That said, they both definitely beat out 'Edge of the Moment' for me.

'Resonate' is just a stronger tune, IMHO. It's got a stronger rhythm section and catchier. But to each his own. :P

Oh I don't deny that 'Resonate' is the catchier tune. In fact, if I had to sum up the album in one track, it'd be 'Resonate'. It's right up there with 'Chain of Love', but I love both songs for their own merits.
