Eclipse - the worst Journey album ever?

I pressed the stop button in the middle of the second track because of Arnel's vocals. I don't even feel tempted listening to the rest of the record. Sad.

The plastic production, the plastic vocals, the cardboard drums... WTF happened with this band? How could they sink to such depths?

"We made love of lifetime" etc etc. Seriously. If I could find one word that sums it all up: lightweight. How could the band become so damn lightweight and wishy-washy? This is like listening to a parody of the real band. Anything is Possible - have they started writing songs for cheerleading teams? Just awful. The short Neal solo in the song reminds you he's still got it but then it's back to the wish wash again.

Arrival - the last Journey album.

It's totally cool, we understand. And luckily you can go back to Wal-Mart and find something better suited to your tastes. I've already called yours and have 5 boxes of that 'something' waiting for you.

Shoot... I should have asked if you prefer 'unscented' in case you are allergic.

Don't blame Journey for Keven Shirley's shitty production.

I believe Journey hired Shirley and not the other way around :)

Just cause it's not "your" opinion does not mean it's not the right one.

Of course...

Shall we see if Augeri is well enough to come back? Those leather pants must
certainly have caused your hearing loss.

Why didn't you poll this?

Sorry, but I can't take anyone who listened to only two tracks, then wants to pass
judgement on the entire album seriously.

I have skipped through the other ones too now, hasn't changed my opinion.

My remarks still stand.

So you stopped in the middle of the second track, but you listened to "Anything is Possible", including the solo?

Ohhhhhhhkay.

You skipped through them huh? Well now that makes you review very credible.

Thank you for your honesty and courage.

Instead of saying I'm trolling, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the lightweighted nature of current Journey. You don't hear this or if you do, it doesn't bother you?

I caught that, too. He loved making a point that he stopped in the middle of the second track and felt no need to listen anymore it was so bad. Then he brings up Anything is Possible, fifth track, in the next breath. Too comical.

Now he comes back on saying he skipped through the whole album listening, which means he's lying at some point in his initial post. LOL It's one thing to have an opinion on the album after listening to it and stating your opinions, good or bad. He had an agenda from the beginning - imo.

Again, I have skipped through it. There is no need to listen to all of it - the main problems still apply. And I'm curious to hear what it is about the music that draws you in so much...

Because I'm not hearing it.

Jana, please share your thoughts on the music...

Waaay more UnJourneyish crap filler on Arrival than there is on Eclipse. This album is tight.

I have shared my thoughts with an in depth review on here a few days ago under the first review thread "Eclipse - Your Review." I don't feel the need to change your mind nor you change mine. It's all opinions. At least, I listened several times before my review and thoughts.

First listening session, I stopped after the 2nd track. I later skipped through the rest of the tracks. I haven't listened to it in full, and don't feel tempted to because of the main problems I highlighted. Onto the real topic.

It's all opinions true, but I find it curious how this album manages to get a 100% (1-0-0) review on this site. :)

She has...Posted a review already Trollman, go find it.

There, you'll find many a review...Some great, some good, and a couple of not so good.

You may have to put some time into it though...not just skip through the posts.

If I may ... I think Andrew's reviews are relative in nature. The big days of the 80's are gone. So are the hokey choruses and formulaic albums. Journey could churn out Revelation and Arrival style albums till their balls bleed. This genre is dying, at best. To have an album come out in this day and age, and for it explore musical horizons is pretty damn cool. I think Journey hit a homerun on this album ... and you don't. Neither of us is right or wrong. Hey, I'm ok with your opinion. If you think it sucks rhino cock, cool. It's all good. Delete the download and go enjoy other facets of life. No big deal. Some of love it, some hate it and some don't give a shit. And that's okay. :) This site welcomes dissenting opinions. Hammer away, but I'd say you need to brush up on your arguing skills. But this is a good place to practice. 8)
