Live In Manila Remastered?

Check out Change for The Better and Ask The Lonely

It sounds a lot better than my DVD. I guess it could be my computer speakers, but it's really night and day difference to me.

Whoever did these definitely did a great job. I'd buy a second copy for this quality.

Agreed, but maybe there were masters that really sounded that good, but didn't make it to production.
I don't think anyone is gonna spend money to remaster this, but I could be wrong.

This would make a great live album. Journey should have made a 3 disc set for Eclipse with this quality audio of Manila.

Glen, remember moi, please. ;)

BTW, so many of us are used to listening to some of the YT crap that get's posted, that we don't really know what AP
sounds like live. The ATL clip is a great example of what he really sounds like live. Very powerful singer!

I haven't watched these clips, but before I go to rip them, is everyone sure that the audio has been improved or does it just sound better coming from the computer speakers?

We'll find out. The only thing I have to go by is the DVD rips that someone sent me after it came out.
I played them in my car and they sounded like shit. Any improvement is welcome.

How is converting that to MP3 better than the DVD? I'm confused. And if those clips are better posted, here, what was done? I'm not much better than Dan sometimes on this kind of stuff.

Hmmn.. thinking back, I vaguely remember seeing 'BoratcoHD' in some YT videos and this was long before. They really sounded crispy at that time, reason for me to be excited of the DVD. Looking at the upload date, it could be the same videos I saw before but probably different user. YT may have changed their audio setup?

These might just be straight up sound board recordings.

You people are fooling yourself. These aren't better. No matter how high the bit rate you upload to youtube, it's going to run at 128 to keep the site from having bandwidth issues.

ipod360p, 360p and 480p videos have 96kbit AAC audio with a frequency cut-off around 12~14kHz.

720p, 1080p and original all have 128kbit AAC audio.

Even if these were remastered, what you would be downloading would be crap.

Those video downloader programs might tell you you can grab it at 192 but all they are doing is converting it again and actually degrading it even more.

Just use a DVD audio ripper on your own discs if you want the songs so bad. The quality will be waaay better.

Don, I think what we are noticing is a different audio mix here. This could very well be a sound board recording added to the videos.
They sound cleaner, purer, not doctored, and I notice the sound of the audience being much louder, which was definitely not that way on the DVD.

I already ripped the audio from the dvd a while back and although it sounds good this sounds like a totally different mix. I will have to listen to my copy and compare.

I know what you guys are talking about but why don't you pull out the DVD and have a listen side by side? Now use the settings on your receiver to create a live concert or hall effect. Hit the spacial control also if you have it. Depending on the quality of you're system and what kind of options it has, you'll be duplicating what you hear at the minimum and blowing away what these youtubes sound like at the maximum.

Can't you hear that echo the uploader threw in there? It's creating the illusion that the sound is more dynamic.

Oh well, what ever floats your boat. If you THINK it's better then it will be no matter what.

A lot of people have all in one Stereo systems but if you have a good receiver you can tinker like this and listen to it with a totally different sound. People do it with bootleg videos all the time. Re-record the audio with enhancements to clean it up and drop it back onto the video. At home, no professionals needed.
