What a waste of time trying to bring this to people's attention. If the band won't put it on their own website, I'm not going to promote it here.

At #37 in MP3 album sales.

Got some work to do to catch Paisley, at least in this format.

This is a fun interview though one thing that struck me as weird was when asked where people could download Eclipse, Neal said it was exclusive to Wal-Mart for the next six to eight months. How can the band not know it's on Amazon?

I just read this cat's review on Amazon:

The last Journey album Revelation was good. Now comes this overblown piece of crap. I predict it will be one of the worst selling Journey albums ever. There are no singles on this album. 95% of these songs are way too long. When the shortest song is 3:36 long and the longest one is nearly SEVEN MINUTES LONG, you know you are in for an extremely LONG listen. Thankfully, I did not buy the physical cd, I will just delete this pretentious hunk of crap off my hard drive. Not worth even $7.99. Only Wal Mart stores are gonna stock this. Save money, live better, don't waste your hard earned dough on this crap.

What!!! Wow, Don, you are incredible. You have an amazing talent for finding cool and relevant facts and resources for Journey, how do you do it? I'm really surprised nobody mentioned this before, I wouldn't have had to order from Frontiers and pay the 10 or 15 Euros for shipping! :-( Anyway, I bought the Amazon download, and, while I already had the mp3s, I have to say that the Amazon Mp3s are a bit better than what I've been playing all week. I'm not sure why, but these Mp3s have a much fatter bottom end and the base and drums stand out much more, giving the album an even bigger and fuller sound. I can't believe how nice Ross sounds on these Mp3s, and Deen doesn't sound as much like he's beating on cardboard boxes. I highly recommend the Amazon purchase. It's even cheaper than Walmart! 8)

You know, I thought racist too, but then he said Revelation was good. Frankly, I don't know what's up this guys ass and thankfully, I don't really care.
He does come across as the village idiot and I think he might be one of those who knows this album is a real winner and can't handle that.

Good call. Maybe he's not, but seemed like his criticism was more personal than musical. A typical racist will attempt to mask it with something clever like "some of my friends and neighbors are black, but I just don't like ni@#rs!" I thought maybe that was the strategy with saying Revelation was good while crucifying Eclipse. I can see how someone might like the songs on Revelation better than Eclipse, but you can't say the same about performances, because Arnel improved a lot on this record even if the songs (in your opinion) didn't.

The racism argument is tired anyway. Not every review is going to be a good one. The majority of Journey fans grew up on the ballads and weren't exactly clamoring for Journey to change their style ( the continuing popularity of the Greatest Hits shows people are pretty happy with Journey as they were). If a number of fans are disappointed with this release, there is nothing wrong with that.

At the possible cost of at least one spot on their Billboard Debut? Amazon is a huge player here as Gaga has proven, you have to be very vocal about your release being available there. It was only the digital package, the CD is still Wal-Mart exclusive. Wal-Mart knows how the game is played, I don't see them being concerned about mp3 sales. They want people in the store and the physical product is what makes that happen.

It's like I said before, Journey goes after the diaper demographic...old farts who are still stuck in the early 90's and buying CD's...Or they are new mothers. Either way, they go shopping for diapers at Wal-Mart and happen to be a bit nostalgic for Journey.

Online sales are not what Journey has EVER been about...no reason to start now as long as people can still go to Wal-Mart to buy their diapers and pick up a CD.

...which is exactly why WM has become the biggest record store these days. People go to WM to get <whatever> and just happen to see a new album displayed in the electronics area.

All the former 'record stores' got hit by the down economy. Buying records is a luxury, not a necessity. When America is counting their pennies every day, there's no reason to go to Tower, Peaches, Hastings, B&N, etc. And that's exactly why 'media' stores don't sell as much as WM, and many of them have failed.

For physical media (CDs) yes, but iTunes and Amazon are the biggest overall music sellers by a large margin. Wal-Mart has lost considerable ground to them over the last two years.
