Heres a review for The Guardian in the UK. The author, Dave Simpson gives Eclipse 2 out of 5 stars...ouch!

That's what counts for a review? Where can I sign up to be a journalist?

I'm not sensitive to bad reviews for bands I like, but that wasn't even witty or thoughtful.

That was an easy read. He's living in the past and all the things he
whined about are what makes the album so great. There is no credibility
whatever in that review. Sorry. Fail!

Other idiots of that ilk, including the op will run around and seek others out who share the same beliefs.
It's human nature to find someone else to co-negaresonate with.

This guy wanted exactly what this album wasn't supposed to be.

Yep , any review that you don't agree with , lacks credibility.
Did you ever think that maybe your {biased} ears hear differently than what most others who aren't diehardfans hear ?! Think about it dickbag ;)

Why don't you go put that disc in a new Ford F150 Platinum's sound system instead of listening to it
in a 1983 Datsun 200SX?

I listened to it in my 2010 SHO 12-speaker system.
Listen moron , a great album sounds great even if played through your 81 SAAB , mono cassette player ;)

So, the no-name fan blogs hail Eclipse as the band's greatest achievement since Frontiers while the highly circulated media rags see it as a flawed effort orchestrated by Neal.

Watch this be the one Journey album that Rolling Stone gives five stars.

I had the same thought. And now there must be a Grammy nod coming Neal's way. :D :D :D

Not so sure there. In years past yes but this upcoming Grammy Awards has eliminated five rock catagories. We know Foo Fighters are going to be a shoe in for some of them regardless.

The Guardian's piece is the first entry on Google's page when you query Journey Eclipse review.
Tsk, tsk..

Scanning Google's front page the second non-Guardian review is actually another popdose review that goes against the one we read here earlier.

There is gonna be division and we already know some folks aren't gonna like it.
Legacy sound or new sound....that is the question. Journey reinvents itself...again.

Rolling Stone will never give a band like Journey a good review. Journey can sing and play too well.

I'm waiting for Craft to tell me what he thinks. I posted on another forum I admin.
Guy was around the band for a long time, so his opinion matters to me.

that was the second review where the person was just so locked into the past that he couldn't even entertain the thought of listening as if it were a fresh album. There's another one out there where the guy compares the album to Frontiers and Escape (as if there were only two Journey albums ever made) and just goes on and on about how this album isn't those albums. Um, DUH.
Sounds like a lot of people here.

I dont compare Eclipse to any previous Journey albums. I just listened to it openminded, hoping I would like it. It's missing something. As I said maybe I would like it a lot more if I was a HUGE Journey fan, but Im not. Its only normal to see reviews from people who arent fans that will burst the bubbles of diehard fans here.
