Have you listened to Eclipse in it's entirety?

A simple yes or no will suffice. All I want to know is if you actually listened to the whole album or not.
A regular poll won't accomplish what I am looking for here.

Yes, but not straight through. The album gets kind of boring after the first four songs IMO.

Yes I did. And after trimming the dead wood from it (COUGH..COUGH..Tantra..COUGH..COUGH), I now listen to it as an EP instead of an LP.

Tantra doesn't do a lot for me. I've skipped it for a long time, but I'm very selective about ballads.

+1. Except in my case it's now just a single 7" Resonate with whichever song on side B.
Steveos next thread : what kind of sound system did you use to listen to Eclipse

And it'll also suggest listening on a cd player with a clear top, because actually being able to see the disc spin enhances the listening experience....

Buy a copy and see if it's not true!

yep, 1/3 is really good, if not great,
1/3 would be awesome instrumentals, like backtalk.
and 1/3 is below average.
worth a free download on Napster. : )

I've probably listened to it all the way through literally around 20 times so far.
When I get a new album that I love I usually listen to it almost exclusively for about two weeks. And I love Eclipse!

It's still in steady rotation, and I still love it. I still don't love Human Feel, and doubt I will ever like it. It has some good things about it, but I find it boring over all. I have skipped it sometimes, but can tolerate it. and sometimes do. That makes Eclipse their strongest release in a long time, because most Journey albums, barring Escape, have a couple or more that I will generally skip.

I played the album pretty much the entire week last week. I was giving it an honest chance. It's not a bad album, but I've grown very tired of it. Incidentally, I put Arrival in the car stereo the other night. I had forgotten how great that album was. Augeri was excellent in the band. The song writing was excellent.

If Arrival is guilty of one thing, it's too much filler. But there are some fantastic tracks there.

I like Arrival very much, more than TBF. I don't like it as much as Eclipse because the vox isn't there for me overall, but
it has some great moments on it.

Yes, about nine times. Human Feel is too long, but like the radio edit. Other than that, no complaints. I enjoy it all the way through. and still like the song placement and Neal's solo. I, too, listened to Arrival this weekend to see if Eclipse would rise above Arrival, which I love. Loved listening to Arrival, as usual, but then listened to Eclipse, and realized I loved them both for different reasons and my mood.
My favorites, if I were to make a mini CD of absolute favorites that I like to play over and over, would be Edge of the Moment, Chain of Love, Tantra, Anything is Possible, Resonate, She's a Mystery, Someone.

Yes.
Love Human Feel, Chain of Love & Edge of the Moment (sounds even better, even
more bad ass when you dial down the treble & kick the bass on that one).

My favorite track is definitely Resonate. Love that one...
LOVE IT!
I have to say, Neal really let his hair down, so to speak, on this record. If anything is missing on this record, I would have to say it's the real soulful side of Neal's playing. Other than that...spot on.

Yes.
Constantly skipping now though. 3-4 decent songs including Resonate, Anything is possible and possibly Chain of love, with the rest probably never to be played again. Overall a massively disapointing release. 3/10.

i have listened to it 3 times and still evaluating. It needs a lot of listening i think Andrew was right that with the samples it's impossible to assess this new music.. my review will follow soon

Affirmative. Seems like every-time I listen to this CD I pick up something new. Love the direction Journey phases into on this album.

yes i have. while the album is not awful, it definitely (other than the red 13 e.p.) is definitely my least favorite of the post-perry albums. tantra, venus, and she's a mystery get skipped every time, no questions asked.

I've listened to it from start to finish several times now.
Personally, I believe that while it's quite enjoyable to select whatever songs you want to listen to off the album ('Resonate' and 'Chain of Love' tend to be the ones I listen to the most on my iPod), the full effect of the album only really comes across when you listen to it as a whole from start to finish.

Yes...ten times or more...but in the last ones I stop listening after Someone. Venus is still unnecessary for me.

Yup, iTunes says it's 17 plays in its entirety since purchase 1 week ago. Probably 10 more listens of the entire, ahem, "pre-release".
I listened to it at the gym yesterday with my iPhone's earbuds and heard tons of layered stuff that I hadn't heard on my computer system. Lots more Cain just under the surface and Deen & Ross really stand out. I didn't realize how little of the cd's real depth I'd been hearing. At some point, I'll listen to it out of my (very credible) 5.1 system in the other room at full volume...

I'm skipping "To Whom it May Concern" and "Venus". The rest get better every listen...especially "She's a Mystery".
My current ranking/rating 1-10:
1) Edge of the Moment (9.5)
2) Resonate (9.25)
3) She's a Mystery (9)
4) Anything is Possible (8
5) Chain of Love (7.5)
6) Human Feel (7)
7) Someone (7)
8 City of Hope (6.5)
9) Ritual (5.75)
10) Tantra (5)
---------------
11) To Whom in may concern (4)
12) Venus (1)

Have listened MANY times all the way through. A few times on MP3 player and many on computer with good speakers and in car.
Again, I have favorites. Love the music, some of the lyrics I have problems with.
Faves - Edge of the Moment, Venus, Resonate, Chain of Love.

Yes and I'm still loving it. The biggest surprise was SAM.. I can't get enough of that song at first I had said it hadn't caught my full attention when I listened to the sample but now it has. My tops are SAM, AIP, Someone, Resonate, Tantra,EOTM, HF,Ritual,COL, the other three I listen to the least at the moment.
