Is it really that big? I thought most people turn off the half time show. I can't watch it. Horribly cheesy and embarrassing stuff. Come to think of it, that may be the reason they would let Journey do it. I hope they never do.

Yes, it reallly is that big. Only 15 minutes of actual airtime but around three months of having your band's name out there in the media is a wonderful trade off.

Sure, for publicity, but Journey is already maligned as "cheesy" so how can rolling in that cheese fest not also hurt?

Journey was cool last year. They were also on vacation though.

Think this is doable?

No.

Why on Earth would Perry sign on to come sweep up the now obliterated stone and try to glue it back together? It makes no sense. Perry was right. Niel should have left the name alone and made Eclipse to his hearts desire. Neil doesn't care about selling records anyway. Why attach the Journey name to it? Go screw around for awhile and maybe come back to Journey at some later date.
If Journey was like that "big Harley" in the garage Cain talked about, that's like asking Perry to rebuild it after it's been wrapped around a light pole.

Why would Rolie come back for this? He didn't play on or write any of these songs.

Don't remind me of the Who. Perry won't sing live because he doesn't want to, unless it's a sing-along with thousands of fans where you can't hear him. And he would sound great on a solo CD, I'm sure, with all the takes and pro-tools to aid in his quest for perfection, because he still has the soulful delivery, and he doesn't even do an album after writing for it and recording some, I guess.

Perry had his chance. He had many chances. He wasted many years that Journey could've been doing something. These were years that he was "Toast"... while he was recording his own stuff.
If Perry wants to go out and do the World Series with a band. Great. But they can't even get him to sing The National Anthem.
In the meantime, Journey has a singer who is putting the time in and doing the work. HE deserves the big gigs. Not Steve Perry. Sorry, Perry WAS the "Great One" in Journey, but Steve Perry has moved on and has done nothing to earn a spot at a huge gig with this band in 15 years. It's like calling Mohamed Ali in to fight the current Heavy Weight Championship. Simply because he was amazing once. If Arnel quits the band, fine. Call Steve Perry. But to say "Hey Arnel, thanks for helping us resurrect our career that Steve Perry threw away. Now we want you to take a back seat so we can bring him up to sing for our big gig at the Superbowl" would be crap.
