I went out and bought it on the day of it's release,
Just as I have done with every Journey album since Frontiers,
Popped it in, and listened to it all the way through 4 or 5 times.
After that, I set it aside for 2 days. You see, I have a weird way of
"knowing" whether or not I like an album or not.
If after just a few listens I find myself humming melodies and singing songs in my
Head days after a last listen, then I know it is a keeper. I can honestly say this happened
With Eclipse. Never happened with TBF or Generations; I have actually never, truly revisited
Those two albums since the first week they came out, aside from WYLAW and Augeri's rendition
Of FITH.
While some of the interviews have been entertaining, I could care less who did what, who wrote what,
Or who fought for certain things. All I care about is the final product.
I, for one, happen to be VERY impressed with this release and can't stop listening to it.
Best way to listen is through some good headphones like my Bose QC2s; sounds incredible.
This past weekend, while doing a show in Jersey, I was driving a loaded Lincoln MKS with THX surround sound...
OH MY FUCKING LORD! This album was a MONSTER in that thing! So many nuances of Infinity- Departure era Journey.
He'll, crank up EOTM at about the 3min mark, and tell me that the next 2min or so don't sound like
An out-take from the Evolution Sessions... Arnel channels vintage Perry like a beast!

Yep....ONE example. Folks here like to revisit every backstory/decision ever made by this band...

So just curious. Do you think that by saying that some of us hate the new album, but the "weirdos love it" hurts your credibility? Not that credibility matters on an Internet forum, but just in general. So anyone in your opinion that loves the new material is a "weirdo"?
Also, your statement "Turn the page, and enjoy the past.." doesn't make any sense. You want people to move on, but by doing so you only want them to have fond memories of Journey past? You do realize that things with this band have been F'd up for a long time right? And that the release of new material is the one thing that a lot of fans can hold onto as the most enjoyable part of still being a fan of Journey, even if the music isn't 100% of what they would prefer?
Someone called you a troll. I'm not sure if you are or not. But some of your statements really have to make one wonder.

Great, well-thought out post. Let me first respond to your 'troll' point. I don't think I am a troll. Cause if I'm a troll, then the gushers are sycophant fanboys/girls. It can't be both ways. I question the band, while the gushers....well....they incessantly gush. It's just two sides of the same coin. It has always been the occasion on this site that all opinions are welcome. And I'll go further by saying that a negative, dissenting opinion is expected to be stated, bandied about, made fun of - then again, expected to go away....while the positive, fanboy, kiss-ass opinions are allowed to be beaten to death like it's wire hanger time for Joan Crawford. I find it to be a double standard....
