John Waite vs Arnel

Postby E5C4P3ING » Tue Jun 07, 2011 1:01 pm

Had the chance to catch John Waite at the Manship Theatre, in Baton Rouge last Friday. He is extremely talented and the pipes are definitely still strong!

There is no denying the talents of Schon, Cain and Castronovo as well! I would love to see a Bad English reunion before it's too late...

You must love ultra proud gay Euros tawsing about in the wind? Waite reeks of gayness, effeminatism and plain feminism. Schon is NOT proud of his time with that Euro fag/hag. Remember this is the douche who called Open Arms "rubbish."

Yeah, I can't wait to see John sing to me in front of a few dozen fans...My dream show.

Get the fuck outta here.

"Forget Me Not", "Best of What I got", "Rocking Horse", "Ghost in Your Heart"...these were rockin tunes and much more interesting than whats being offered right now!"

As for your insecure manhood... have a look at the Bad English videos the band shot for these songs...they are anything but gay.

Question: Do you always resort to profanity and stupidity when you can't think of anything intelligent to respond with?

Answer: Yes.

Waite vs. Arnel

Voice: Arnel - because he simply was born with better pipes.

Performance: Waite - All those years of fronting bands... successfully...

Style: Waite - All those years of fronting bands....

Songwriting: Waite - Lots of hits from this guy... Arnel has yet to have one...

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Never cared for John Waite personally. Besides He is better known as a solo artist rather than fronting a band. These guys may only have a few years left and theres no sense in stopping the only cash cow that still produces milk.

Never been a fan of Waite's. Does nothing for me vocally or looks wise. But have to say, Neal is all kinds of hot in that 'Forget Me Not' video, especially in the shots of him playing in the rain in head to toe black leather. 8) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Qol7z-ku8A

John Waite's career got life breathed into it with Jon and Neal and Bad English. Songwriting Jon. Babys, Jon's writing saved that band too.

Seriously the only hit John Waite had outside of Jonathan's help was "I ain't missing you at all"

John Waite treated Jon, and Neal like crap. He got the big head and has not had a decent hit since.

I am sure he sings fine, but really Arnel has a very good voice.

Are you seriously comparing the two? LOL!

How about this one, Tiny Tim vs Arnel. LOL!

JW is an absolute vocal legend. Can't compare the two... JW has been around a lot longer. One of a kind. As is Arnel.

I think JW came in at around 360,503 in the Greatest vocalists of all-time....Arnel was a distant 1,569,207.

Surprisingly, Tiny Tim came in 14th....go figure.

John Waite is a rather mediocre singer imho, no pipes , no melody , no strength, just a recognizable voice. His only highlight was in Bad English where he admittedly paired very well songwriting wise with Cain. But the whole style of the band did not fit him , you could see he was kind of uncomfortable while on stage or with the hard rocking look of the late 80s...his solo stuff almost ignorable except from some known hits...

Maybe we must open a thread for Bab English though...

No melody?? WOW! He's not a powerhouse vocalist and never has been...he's a storyteller....singer/songwriter and for me his voice oozes warmth and melody.

Both records are amazing, they filled the gap journey left in late 80s, the songwriting chemistry of Cain/waite/schon was perfect

Hell I liked his work with the Babys. Still have Head First on my playlist.

I can't say he has a "great voice", but it works well. Can't compare the two. Totally different styles.

You guys are funny. You'll think anything paired with the Journey boys is the best of that person's career. The first Bad English album, while pretty cool and some great spots, has some of the most cheesy lyrics ever written (Put your key inside my door). Gee, cliche' much? The second album did a better job, but still. The highlight of those albums was Neal.

When compared to many John Waite songs, Bad English does not even compare, lyrically, feeling, depth. No one said John was some insanely great vocalist. As Andrew said, he's a storyteller. He doesn't always hit the mark, but that's true about any long-lasting artist.

As far as the way he acted during the Bad English days (and maybe before and after), I really don't know. I'm sure like many lead singers, he can be a total asshole. But again, you can say that about many long-lasting artists.

I just listen to the music - I don't live with these people.

To compare - not really the same thing. But John Waite is an original artist that has created a body of work for nearly 40 years. The man has poured his creative soul into album after album. Arnel will likely never achieve that.

I got the feeling that they didn't get along well. Some of the stuff that came out when they broke up was pretty detrimental to Waite.

The Babys were a great band. Bad English was okay. "Head First", "Give Me Your Love", "Isn't it Time", "Jesus are you There" blow the crap out of anything Bad English did except for maybe "Best of What I Got" which was a great tune from them.

Never gonna happen, not as long as Journey is selling 10,000-20,000 every concert.
