Picked up a copy of Eclipse today!!!

So anyways I stopped at Walmart on the way home from school today to buy Leppard's Mirrorball cd/dvd.

While I was there I picked up a copy of Eclipse. I picked it up and could not believe it was actually between 2 pieces of thin cardboard. I started laughing (seriously) and took a peek inside thru the cellophane to see if there was still an image of Tony the Tiger or Toucan Sam that the recyclers missed! After inspecting it I set it back down.

I have never seen packaging like that!

It's awesome, and same price as Eclipse, yet is 2 cd's and a DVD, and... a plastic case  A big one too

Picked mine up today too and love it, love that they put some of my favs on it and the raw live sound is really great on songs like RRTYD, Animal, Rock of Ages, Too Late For Love, etc. Oh and they put Sav's bass solo before Rock On on there too, not a big fan of Rock On, but have loved his bass solo during shows the past few years so it was cool to hear that on there. Seeing them yet again, soon, can't wait.

Did you see anyone else pick it up? Or a better question, did you see anyone else pick it up and actually proceed to the checkout counter with it?

No, but while I was there I did see an employee re-stocking it with a dozen or so discs. So that's a good sign, then again...it may be the first time they've restocked it since it's release.

That's a 98 or later. Mine's a 95. Black with grey leather. Ordered her from the factory in Quebec...17 years and I'm still madly in love with her!

Enjoy! I've always wanted a live album from them ever since all the way back in high school when I got the VHS of "In The Round", lol.

There were 2 copies in the Wally World I was in today. On a related note, there was a big display on another rack advertising The Essential Journey.

I've purchased several CDs recently with similar packaging. What's the big friggin' deal? The most important part of the packaging is what's on the inside!

Foreigner's last release was the same way. It's a big deal only to those who endlessly want to bitch. Many bands (of Journey's age especially), don't even put out cds any more.

Yeah...Wallyworld probably sees it as being worth it to finance a CD if a band tours in support of it pushing sales of its back catalog.

No. Though it may be made out of the same type material. Foreigner's packaging has more to it being a trifold. It actually has some bulk and is a bit substantial.

That thing I looked at in Walmart, I could have flossed my teeth with!

That's because it was a 3-disc set, but it was also just as chintzy. I have no problem with the cardboard sleave. The multiple errors in the liner notes are inexusable, however.

They should have at least put something together like Rush's "Spirit of the Radio" greatest hits. That single cd packaging is all cardboard, but at least they built it so it wouldn't get squished and swallowed up in a cd collection.

According to the notes, the whole package was assembled at NoMoTa HQ in San Rafael, not a cd pressing factory. I think that's pretty cool and would explain the minimalism. Cover art is phenomenal too.

Come on. Are you guys really upset about the type of case a CD comes in? Holy shit.

I not certain, but I think the cd may sound the same, paper or plastic. Only eat your steaks that come from the market wrapped in plastic and not paper?

Dude I have over 600 cd's in my collection. I'd at least like packaging that doesn't get folded flat so I can't read the artists or album title to know that it's there. That's not a lot to ask is it?

Add to that, that I'm not too wowed (I'm being generous) by the content. There is zero reason to buy the thing. Even that piece of crap Generations has ranked higher simply because it has a jewel case.

Got it ...I had to pay 11.88 plus 8.65% sales tax, I would've paid 12.00, though, heehee ...it's nice!!
Can't listen until Sunday (19th), as it's a kill two birds w/one stone gift ...
I'm thinking about recellophaning/regifting Eclipse for the occasion!!!
