And it looks like they listened and have taken Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' out of the encore. Any Way You Want It is in its place. Good move with that one.

Forget piss break, I see a fish, chips and ale break in the middle of that setlist. Image

Always go for a piss and a beer on open arms. There's never a line at the beer stand then and you can hear whats going on anyway from the concourse

After reading that Styx and Foreigner were both the better bands in New Castle, would that be such a bad thing right now? At least until they get the sound issues sorted out?

It definitely sounds like Journey hasn't gotten off to the best start in Europe. We all knew following Foreigner would be tough, but it sounds like it's proving tougher than anticipated so far.

Lights, Tantra, Jon's key solo, Open Arms and the Chain Of Love intro?   Holy fuck, when the meat and potatoes of Chain Of Love kicks in people are gonna think they're at a Metallica concert!

Looks like Deen is not singing anything...they have a lot of faith in Arnel's voice. Hope they don't blow him out. Open Arms and Tantra so close together seems vocally dangerous!

Tantra sounded really good live. I was worried since there is so much going on with that song, but it turned out just fine.

5 new songs ... the crowd seemed fine with them; no mass exodus that I could see. The arena was completely full. LTS still sucks even when it is not the encore. Arnel seems to be becoming more adventurous with tempo and phrasing; making the songs his own instead of reproducing them note by note. It was nice to see; I though Faithfully was particularly well done. He also made a foray into the crowd at one point.

Jon played a lot of guitar, and he and Ross were really lively and engaged; looked like they were having fun up there. Neal shredded up everything he could find, including Wheel in the Sky.

Foreigner was solid. I love Styx, but tonight they just seemed off; the sound was terrible and they seemed to have slowed the songs down too much.

Always a blast to hang out with the Mad Brits too ... off to Download tomorrow.

They said Hansen did that the other night, walking into the crowd. Glad you had a decent show. Every night seems like one of the bands is having an issue. First Foreigner, than Journey and tonight Styx.

I got so freaking excited when arnel said tantra . Though I didn't understand what he said at first so there was confusion for the first twenty seconds. Made my night though, never thought I would hear that song live so I feel very lucky, one of my favourites of all time, top ten definitely. ... Which is funny, I'm always on about wanting journey to rock more but my favourite songs from the past three CDs have been ballads; tantra, to whom, tdtwt and walking away from edge.

Overall a good show. I agree with the above part, arnel is getting more adventurous with his phrasing and it sounded great for the most part though I think he missed the cue for city of hope and a line or two in tantra.

Dissapointing that the new cd was being sold for 15pound , hardly going to entice people into buying it though I'm sure that that is out if journeys control .

I enjoyed Styx n for. I'll be buying fors last album tomorrow now I think. Great frontman and very very good singer.

Oh and where I was sitting the bass drum sound was awful, so muffled anod arnels mike kept going quiet.... Oh and Cain still looks gay holding a guitar but what a great writer he is.

I noticed that in a youtube of the first show during City of Hope. Wow, I guess still some more kinks to be worked out.

Glad you enjoyed the show. I thought the CD was 8£ on Amazon. Are they trying to sell them at the venue for 15?

I'm really not impressed with how the new songs are coming across through the videos. They need to get this sound shit sorted out quickly, but they probably won't.

I think they will need to. That one night (a few nights ago) all the reviewers who were concert-goers, save maybe one, carried on about the sound issues, that it drowned out Arnel's voice and the sound was not only too loud but distorted at times. Arnel will blow out his voice trying to be heard singing if they don't straighten it up.

"Journey breaks singers"

Well, if the band doesn't the sound guy will.
Perhaps the reason they are supposedly stepping down already?

Dude, that can't. They obviously cannot convert the recorded product to live music...it's all on tape, and yes, it's true.

But someone is actually singing. Canned backing vocals are nothing new for them. Triggering sound effects, if delayed, will sound
all fucked up.

Yeah, the delays and a lot of other stuff might be totally getting trashed at the moment. I always wondered if they had toured TBF and try to do all the songs like they sounded on the record if they would have had trouble with the echos and things. I guess it just not something the band's sound techs are just starting to get acclimated with.
And when the reverb is off, timing must be off for Arne tool. It's got be a bitch right now.

You got to feel bad for the fans who are in the wrong part of the venues and experiencing this.

There certainly must be a learning curve for bringing out new music in a live setting.

Well, since the Eclipse music isn't straight up rock and roll , so definitelty different this time around. Last tour, the band was detuned and just going at everything raw. This time though, it really has to be a musical production or you lose the essence of what makes Eclipse a great album.

They need to take Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' off the set list all together. They're missing a lot of good songs; Mother Father, One More, Edge of the Blade, Feeling That Way, Anytime.

Full-heartedly agree. Heck, I'd love to see them play "Can't Tame The Lion" live at some point on this tour.

That said, what does everyone think should be the standard encore song? Personally, I'd bring back "Winds of March" and use that as the encore, but that's just me.

The encore at Birmingham was the very poor selection LTS, I think Manchester was another poor one AWYWI.

I just hope the next time I see them they drop (wishful thinking) some of these tired overplayed songs and yes add Can`t Tame The Lion, One More, Winds Of March etc etc

The reverb is probably not in Arnel's in ears. It wouldn't affect him. Having the eq or say, the bass drum up to loud covering his voice in his monitors WILL affect him.
