"Anthing is Possible"

Postby Monker » Thu Jun 09, 2011 7:47 am

"When you shoot for the moon
and if you miss your mark
baby, you still end up so high among the stars"

Nice misquote of Les Brown there, "Shoot for the moon and if you miss you will still be among the stars.”"

Hell, the whole song is a misquote of Les Brown, tsk, tsk Jonathan.

I thought I was the only one who thought this...in fact, I wasn't going to say a word, because it seemed so preposterous. Talk about ripping a guy off, then changing two words and calling it your own? Man, Cain is surely not a man of character. Piece of shit.

It's very difficult to spell out these lyrics, Arnel's articulation is really bad in that song , those verses specifically , did he record it kind of in a rush ? was he stressed :P ??

Exactly. Gee, what a shocking revelation.

After all, we all know Good Poets Borrow, Great Poets Steal…just ask T.S. Eliot...or was it Pablo Picasso?...or maybe it was some other guy. Anyway, the thing is it's not the end of the world. Certainly no cause to call some one's character into question.

The direct quote doesn't exactly flow off the tongue let alone fit the strophic form of a song stanza. I'll bet it was altered to fit the song.

If one subscribes to Rhapsody, or even if they have the free membership that gives them 24 streaming songs per month, you can listen to the entire Eclipse CD on rhapsody in CD quality, or at least near CD quality. Especially if you're listening to it via the rhapsody software and not through the website.

Then Journey mjust completely suck because I have never heard them lift such a direct quote from somebody.

It's a good song...but that one line is something that I can't ignore...It's like some writer in the 70's being quoted for "taking a midnight train going anywhere." Just way too close.

I remember Jon saying in an interview that "Arnel makes me want to be a better person" clearly stolen from Jack nicholson in, As good as it gets where he said to helen hunt, " you make me want to be a better man". He only changed one word on that one

Amen to that brother. I think the song is great, but the lyrical treatment on this is nauseating....then again, Friga isn't a very good lyricist. I've got proof....

Yeah the lyrics suck but I'm sure Cain meant to copy though. Many songs do it, have references to other songs etc
