Sometimes you just gotta see it

So I clicked thru someone else's link to a recent UK performance of somethin' or other and afterwards clicked to 'listen' to Resonate. I'm sitting at my computer actually working (for once) in another browser tab, tabbed over during the middle of the song and was blown away. Your mileage may vary, but I am absolutely digging Resonate. And Arnel's performance is showing lots of soul to me. I'm not getting the 'high school recital' dig on this live clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzuFd6hkgnI

Great tune indeed. Unfortunately, it's one of those songs that will only appeal to a select few who appreciate it for what it is. The rest of the audience will yawn, sit down and tweet about the lame song currently being played by Journey. Had it been released as a single and actually gotten some airplay, it would have given those attending a show a chance to hear it a few times prior to going to the show.

On a different note, I watched several of the vids from that show posted by that same person and I have to say the overall quality of the sound was pretty rough. Neither Arnel nor Deen could seem to find the right key and synch up with the music. Their vocals were very hit and miss for some reason.

And lastly, what the fuck is up with Deen?! I realize he's one of those people who finds it necessary to reinvent their look and their persona each year and I had seen the pics of him a couple of months ago in the skinny jeans, gold-tipped cowboy boots and the duster overcoat (and looking strikingly like Lawrence Gowan I might add... ) but in the vids from the Newcastle show he looks like a cross between Adam Ant and Clay Aiken.... (go ahead, let that image sink in.... I'll wait  ) And I know I'm not the only one who watched the vid of MF and said to myself ( or even out loud...) "God Damn, Deen's fuckin' baked!" Now, I'm not stating that as fact because I have absolutely no idea if he was or wasn't and to tell you the truth, I really couldn't care less. I'm just sayin' he looked like he was craving a package of Nutter Butter's and a nap! :P
MF from the Newcastle show:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywiLnrBO ... re=related

And one I forgot about and came back to edit my post.
At :08 into MF,, immediately before Deen is to utter the first word of the song, he puts both of his sticks in his right hand and appears to flip off Neal with his left. I'm fairly sure that's not the case and rather is gesturing to the stage left sound engineer that his in-ear monitors sounded better as a result of whatever he did (Hey, I'm trying to stay positive here... )
HOWEVER, to those who don't know Deen like we do, will see what I just described and DEFINITELY think he's flipping Neal off!   And as we all know Neal has been known to do things that indeed make people flip him off so maybe he was!

I paused the vid and slid back and forth through the frames... its sure looks like Deen is flipping someone off...

No, one thread which is the topic of the thread and another in which I mentioned it which was relevant to the other things I was discussing.
"Exact same bullshit?" What about it is bullshit? And, since you are obviously acting like I've offended you in some way, as evidenced by your little girl negative whine, I'll remind you that no one forced you to read my posts let alone take the time to reply to both of them. Some people just take pride in finding ways to complain.

Thanks for the reply! I'm Steve btw.... Lighten up.... you'll live longer!

Deen rules.

He's not flippin' anyone off and there's no tensions in the band whatsoever.

Yeah, not a great look going on there. Don't understand why he felt the need to "glam" up his look the past few years.

I don't know about glam, LOL I like the spiked out hair for some reason it just suits him, but his cheeks a little and especially his eyes look sunken, I think he looks better with a tiny bit more meat on his face.

Yeah, the way he looked on the 2001 DVD was fine. I hear he was going through some shit at that time, but go ahead and put on a few pounds or whatever, but the past few years ....... what a change.

Deen looked fairly badass when I saw him in Louisville in '09. Definitely comes off pale and gothy in the Eclipse photo shoots, tho. He needs to get the tan back, but the hair's just fine. He's a rock star, which is a lifestyle that suggests a rather liberal, 'rebellious' look.

Sometimes it looks too crazy.
Ross's hair looked ridiculous slicked back the last tour. That and the mustache gave him the look of an ancient, lecherous porn star.

Seriously, it was freaky. Arnel's Asian genetics aside, Cain's the one who has aged the best in the band.

The reality is that most cosmetic surgery simply isn't up to the task of competing good ol' CGI. Too bad Neal isn't a Pixar character, eh?

When I met the band in '06 or '07 (can't remember, it was Noblesville Indiana during the Def Leppard tour w/ Soto), Cain looked great and seemed to be in excellent shape. I hope I age as well as he did.

Poor Ross, on the other hand, comes off looking like Emperor Palpatine's older brother.

That would've been '06...I was at that show with my daughter in the 8th row. Got the tix from the man Soto himself and met him at the meet-n-greet before the show.

LMFAO!!
God I love being a visualist type of thinker! It makes everyday conversations sooooo much more vivid and exciting. What would be just the cat's tits is if I had the ability to draw. Then I could share with the world what my mind conjures up when I go into visualization mode and THAT one made me literally LOL just a little bit!
