I haven't heard one tune for the album on the radio yet. BTW, I know it has been said that Journey
doesn't care about getting on the radio anymore. What's wrong with being on the radio?

Probably because they can't get any of these jaded no Perry-no Journey DJs to give 'em a spin.

Maybe it's a label decision. (Therefore, I assume Frontiers, more so than Wal-Mart, from the ways things have been going)

I know for Whitesnake's recent album, Forevermore, they made a video for the song Easier Said Than Done. I believe that a very brief clip of it was shown in an EPK or album ad, YouTube video.

When asked about when it will be released, Coverdale said it's up to the label. Therefore, I guess they handle that stuff. Similarly, he commented that the label chose the song Love Will Set You Free as the 1st single, since the band would have thought more along the lines of I Need You (Shine A Light). And, who released Forevermore? FRONTIERS RECORDS!

Frontier Records is not Journey's label in the USA.

For real! Gotta say, if I was working on a painting and someone walked up who's opinion I had no reason to respect and who didn't even have the miniscule amount of talent I have or any talent at all...started telling me to do this do that instead of doing it how I see it...well, I would let it go in one ear and out the other, but for a second I may be tempted to dump the container I wash my brushes out in right over their head.
or hand them the brush and tell them if they think they can do better,,,then go ahead and show me.

Wrong, dude. WCN has a soothing, melodic and, at times, a soaring but simple solo at the end. In other words, it fits the song perfectly. Neal's solo at the end of AIP is everything the solo at the end of WCN is not. It's out of place, separate from the song and takes a feel-good message and excellent song, and force feeds the solo down the listener's throat. The song is sailing along beautifully until that jarring solo. It's so out of place that it almost sounds like he's playing the wrong solo! I don't know what song that solo was for, but it sure as fuck isn't AIP! WCN? You know that solo belongs in the song. Why? Because you can get lost in that solo. In fact, it's one of Neal's finest examples of guitar "singing." If you think the same could even be remotely said about the AIP outro, then I'm just speechless. Thats because you have a preference for slower, more mellow melodic music, Danalow. AIP is another song composed with a classic Journey style. They obviously reached back to Frontiers and before in composing Eclipse.

One of my favs ...but the end, thud!!

AIP is a great song, would never fly unless heavily edited, I love the outro, best part of the song, but the average journey fan prob wont.

They killed this record with COH as the lead single, its the most non radio friendly song, and one of Journeys worst.

AIP is catchy as hell, a great solo, and an awesome outro.

I thing City of Hope is a great song. Love the opening guitar riff, especially with the extra guitar harmonies going on, the soaring vocals, and that I can actually hear Ross' bass line. Neal and Jon wrote that for Arnel about Manila, which I think is very cool.

Lets be honest here. This is Journey. Wedding pictures, believing in dreams, leather pants and whatever other clichées one can come up with. This album isn't the next The Dark Side of the Moon - Eclipse is average at best. To give it a 100/100 is nonsense.

Says you! I never said it was the Dark Side of the Moon. We are talking about Journey here, not Pink Floyd. That band had their style and Journey has their own and their respective styles are not the same. If someone thinks it's a 100/100....then to them it is. You may think it's average, but I think its quite a bit above average. HONESTLY!

On this subject we obviously disagree. I'll still let you live, though.

Singles are the band's decision. They have no label as such. Frontiers and WalMart are both licensing deals. And yes, singles from the album will be edited for potential radio play.

I'll be the first to say it - WCN is an overrated boring song. Just because it's included on the GH, doesn't make it so. Neal deviates from the main melody at the end of AIP and takes it to a darker place, but so what? Where is it written that every solo must follow the format of riffing followed by seguing back into the main chorus? The guitar is still singing. You make it sound like heavy metal or something far far out of left field. Personally, I love the change-up. Eclipse is all about veering into darker places.

Agree on all counts.

City of Hope had no more chance of being a successful single than What It Takes To Win.

AIP, Resonate, and Someone should have been 3 singles from this CD from the get go.
