Thanks for the link, Jman. I was keeping up with what he was doing on Facebook but I got burnt out on keeping up with too many folks on FB and kept getting unwanted messages from men I don't know so I deleted everything and everyone except my son who is stationed in Korea....just a more convenient way for him to post pics and not have to send out individual emails. We do our talking on cell and Skype. I didn't talk much on FB anyway...mainly just posted a bit of my artwork, my photographs.....and lotsa music vids! Got some relatives and friends asking me to get back on it, though. Still trying not to cave to the pressure and have to go back to checking in on FB all the time. Ugh. I get burnt out on text and prefer to talk on the phone and in person to folks.

Anyway, I would love to see a Rolie show. He seems to do most of his performances in California and in the East though. He lives in Texas...in Austin, but I have not heard of a performance here yet. Hopefully he will do some here and hopefully I can make it to one. :)

 A little of both.

Rolie recalled, "So he picked them up, brought them out to Mountain View. We started playing. And, of course, there was marijuana there and a lot of noise. All of sudden, the cops came and I turned and said, 'We'd better get out of here!' And all I saw was Carlos' back. He was about 20 yards away, running for this field, because he was a street rat and he knew what was up. So I tagged on after him. And we hid in a tomato patch, until the cops left. And that was the beginning of all of it."

 Yeah, I had read that somewhere before. Can you just picture those two guys in a state of stoned paranoia crouching behind the tomaters?

Glad you saw the humor in my post. I was being half serious and half goofy....my usual frame of mind.

Yep, isn't that just cool! :D DrFu took that pic of the crowd for the Mr Big set at Download. I guess "Mr Big" is popping up quite often to the question posed on Download's Facebook of "who should be invited back?". Just gives me the warm fuzzies how great the reviews are for their live shows and cd. :D :D :D Ok that was my random post for the day.

We saw Gregg last Thursday in a club in San Rafael called George's. Lots of musical history in that place from back in the day when it was called New George's. I hadn't seen Gregg in many years as I'm not so much into latin music, but I knew he was going to play a couple of old Journey tunes at this show and some songs off of his new EP.

It was fabulous seeing him again as well as Herbie Herbert and other old friends from Journey's management and road crew who were there. He played "Look Into The Future" which was amazing and a blues version of "Anytime" which was okay but might have been amazing if Neal was playing. The guitarist was okay but just didn't really move me - I would have preferred to hear more solos from Gregg and not the guitarist. Gregg told some stories, did a short Q&A and it was just a fun evening. Too band the sound system SUCKS there.

One of the songs he played is called "If I Went Home" and it's off his new EP. He said he wrote that song about his decision to leave Journey. The vibe of the song was 'I hope you will be okay without me but I need to go home.' I teared up listening to it.

Anyway, he looks and sounds great and it was a really special evening. :D

Thanks for getting the thread back on track.  and thanks for the info! I think it's cool that he's doing smaller intimate shows like Rik Emmett has been doing. I really enjoy the small venues even more than a large concert. I hope he does some appearances in Tejas! Would love to see him. :)

I met Rollie when he was on The Storm's first tour. They were playing a state fair, and he was just walking around alone eating a corn dog (with mustard of course). Couldn't have been a nicer more genuine guy. Just stood around and talked with us for quite awhile about the band's music, life on the road, and his family. He asked us as many questions about our lives as we did him. We didn't bring up Journey. He made a great impression on me that night that "rock stars" could be normal every day people. I will never forget that conversation.

Damn! I could have written the same post almost word for word. First Storm Tour opening for Bryan Adams in Denver at the State fair. He was walking around. I didn't really think it was him at first because there was no one around him asking for autographs, etc. Just he and another guy. I walked up and put out my hand, said I was a big fan and asked him politely for his autograph. He shook my hand, thanked me signed his name and we stood there for probably 5 minutes maybe...? And you're exactly right. Of all the celebs in the music biz I've met over the years, he is among the most mellow, down to earth guys you could ever meet. He just seems like he's not in hurry to be anywhere and has all the time in the world which is exactly the way he acted toward me when I was chatting with him. Truly a very nice guy.
