I know this, thanks (I guess) to my wife who loves her. Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra had a #1 song which he wrote for Sugarland last year. Country is where the money is for songwriters.

I say this a little tongue-in-cheek....
You can tell it's a Jonathan Cain song, cause it contains certain thematic elements, such as dreams coming true....and it has the phrase "saving grace" in it. LOL!
Jon is a very interesting guy....very cerebral...and he's responsible, partly at least, for many of Journey's best songs....but he does tend to do what I mentioned above....a LOT.

Its no surprise to me that someone feeling their faith in the spirit would repeat the expression.
I have no idea if JC is a Christian or not but regardless of labels, anyone with belief in the spirit could describe it the same.
What is said in Eclipse is that belief in spirit is inclusive of all faiths, not exclusive for any one as it is belief in the same spirit by all.
In other words, to me, being in grace is walking in the light and love of spirit.
Spirit meaning God, Allah, Yahweh, Savior, Jehovah, Adonai, Elohim, etc. Regardless of the name affixed by man, they are all one in the same.

The word GRACE is all over Eclipse.

Not so fast Slingblade. You are lumping Allah in with God? Back away from the pipe and give it a rest. Too many bucket hits for your brain today.. Allah and God? Yeah I can see those two tooling around the golf course arguing over Allah's illegal drops and cheating, while God is breaking Tiger's records left and right. Allah has enough and drives the golf cart into the beer cart in a form of miniature terrorist. probably not Bsky.

Deep down in you, I still feel there is some good, but it will never be used in the way it should if you don't do something now!. Face it! You are an addict!
and to the rest of y'all......
If some of you think you're going to jump me now for saying this and think you will be showing you care about this man if you do. Think again. For the last 5 years I've watched people enable this guy, not help him by condoning his bad behavior and coddling him and some even contributing to his dependency further by suppling him in one way or another. If y'all really gave a shit about him you would tell him straight what he needs to hear, not what he wants to hear. Theres time for gentle care and compassion with folks but there also has to come a time for some tough love and he's needed someone to tell it to him straight and give him a good firm kick in the ass to wake him up and get him moving in the right direction for years! Some of y'all make me sick! You are just as much of a wuss as he is when you enable him instead of helping him in the way he really needs! It doesn't take any guts at all to come on a forum and degrade others and call names like a juvenile along with him. It takes courage to stand up to him and tell him what he really needs to hear! For real, don't any of y'all have any integrity left to stand firm in your convictions? Where's the strength in character to take a stand and do the right thing by speaking against the bullying he and some others have done for so long on here? Where's the strength to tell him what he needs to hear to save his life??? Oh the hell with it, go ahead and play your games and attack me but it won't hurt me at all...the denial by covering up the problems will only continue to help this man into an early grave. You can't cover for him and you can't cover his pain...it's been too clear to see all along.
Oh and Ed, I know you'll be reading...you need to face the truth as well. You may be functioning but you are still an alcoholic too. Your friends only enable you as well by sitting back and quietly condoning your dependence by their silence or by joining in and encouraging you to drink....when what you also need is someone to tell you straight what you need to hear and not what you want to hear and give you a good swift kick in the ass to get you in gear as well! You and Dean both need a wake up call! You both can deny you have a dependency problem to others but you know inside what the truth is. Don't deny yourselves and don't deny your families of a father.
Whatever, I'm done here because nothing and no one will change so I'm wasting my breath. Go ahead and call me names or whatever...I won't respond to the nonsense and waste my time on it. I prefer to spend my time where there isn't group denial, coverup and enabling like there has been here in so many ways. I'll be spending my time somewhere where people actually care about themselves and truly do care about each other. Somewhere where some actual good can come out of trying to help someone help themselves. Somewhere where folks can recognize true care and a helping hand when they see it! Adios!

I'm worried about Deano, too. Not everyone here is in denial.

He runs and hides when confronted with truth....and whats worse is he then hides in drugs and alcohol. I am not saying this to attack him or to shame him and not with any ill intent. We all have had our own challenges to face in life, no one is immune so there is no shame in admitting one has a problem. So I'm only saying all this because he needs to hear it and because I do care, which is something he couldn't see before. He may be too blinded to see the truth in that though and may still be in too much in denial of his chemical dependency. If he needs to reach out and get a hand up from others, then he needs to do it honestly and not dishonestly like he has in the past. He also needs to understand that even with a boost no one can stand there and support him all of the way through recovery. He's going to ultimately have to crawl out of the hole he's gotten himself into and learn to stand on his own again. No one is going to be able to force him up. It's up to him to save himself.

I didn't know about the drinks and drugs thing... hope he gets himself sorted.

The biggest problem I have with the new Journey album is the universalist approach to the lyrics. I respect people of different faiths, but I do not, for one minute, believe that Allah, Vishnu, and Yaweh are the same. In fact, I believe that syncretism is the ultimate form of disrespect. Why would a Hindu not believe that Vishnu is unique? While Muslims are to recognize Jews and Christians as people of the Book, there is no way that they would equate Allah with the Triune God of the Christians. Yes, we all have to coexist, but that doesn't mean that I have to relegate my God to some watered down, collage god that doesn't offend anybody's delicate sensibilities.

Your post illustrates why we need to come to an understanding that there is only one God for us all. You say "my God" when God is exclusive to no one man formed religion. One God for all, with no one group more right than another. Segregation and separation and putting a claim on God is what brings wars...death and destruction. Wars and separate churches are man made. Man trying to speak for God and man trying to divide and concur using the name of God for power, greed, hate and destruction and for racism thinking one tribe is superior to another. There is one spirit for all and no organized man made religion...no church...only has the spirit over them exclusively. That's what is spoken about in the lyrics ....and its what I believe as well. That why I am spiritual but I'm not religious. I belong to no organized religion but I study all and respect all people of faith in whatever manner they choose. Seeking the spirit is a personal quest, not one to be debated and labeled, imo. Although I will speak up against religious persecution. People of all faiths have a right to their beliefs and not all who follow any particular faith use it wrongly for their own agendas.
One God. One love. For all. By whatever name, it is but one in the same spirit, imo.
