Anyone know when they will start these up? He keeps saying that they are doing them, but I don't see anything.

I think this interview covers a lot of it, but here's the part you're interesteted in:

DRG: Tell me about your signature guitar.

Schon: I’m now working with Paul Read Smith and I’ve got some really exciting stuff coming out with him. I was using his guitars first, before I was coached away from using his guitars, by Gibson. I basically helped Gibson up-date the Les Paul and Les himself, before he passed away, he loved the guitar. They wanted to put the guitar out without my name on it. The fast access heal that I showed them, which I had on all my old guitars, they wanted me to sign it off so they could use it on all guitars. They screwed me over. Now they put another name on a cheaper version of my guitar, so I got a bad taste in my mouth and I had to move away. So I struck up conversation with Paul at the NAMM show and we’ve got some great things coming. A semi-hollow body, like a 335 with easy access to the neck, single-cut larger body Les Paul. It’s set up with a Floyd Rose. He’s also gonna re-make the Schon guitar, the black one. He’s had that to evaluate and remake. His head turns purple when I talk to him because I have so many ideas and he likes my ideas. We’re on the beginning of a great relationship that I’ve had with him for a long time. I think I bought number 5 guitar from him when he first started out, right after Carlos bought his single cut from him. I own the first 12-string he made and brought to one of our concerts in the early 80s. He’s making one of the best guitars out there and he’s a pleasure to work with as apposed to some Joe that doesn’t know fuck all about what you really are playing.

I was wondering why he went back to PRS... well, I think PRS and Schon will go great together... glad to hear that the Schon guitars are coming back...

So, when he mentioned Gibson putting his design out without his name, was that what became the Axcess?

Sort of...

I don't think the Axcess has the same ultra deep-neck set or same design neck joint, the neck-sculpt isn't as elegant as the Neal Sig model, there is no Fernandes Sustainer or DiMarzio Fast Track in the neck position, and the pots are in the standard positions rather than the inverted stagger in the Neal Sig model. Also, the fretboard is rosewood instead of ebony, the inlays are the custom block inlays instead of the Jimi Hendrix split-diamonds that Neal asked for, the tuners are Kluson rather than Rotomatics, and the body isn't custom chambered like Neal's Sig model was. There's also no mid-cut control on board in the Axcess.

Also, Neal had them make him several 25 1/2" scale neck guitars for his own use, although the Signatures sold to the public were 24 3/4" scale just like the Axcess.

Did I miss anything? Other than that, they are identical...

I really like his tone better with PRS, something about the Gibson's didn't sound right to me- maybe he's not using as many digital effects on Eclipse as he did for a while. His tone to me now is more reminiscent of the first 6 Journey albums (which, tone wise, I much prefer).

Well, it's not about his guitars. But I didn't know Neal went to the Grammy's this year.

He and Cain both went. Cain just mentioned in the last interview how was sitting there, secretly rooting against Glee as he didn't want DSB to be remembered as their song instead of Journey's.

Oh, and Neal just got married (again) last week in Paris so there is now a Mrs. Fro in tow.

Oh, I was wondering why he went. I guess the DSB Glee thing.

I wonder how Lori feels. She never got to be one of the future-ex-Mrs. Schons.

So this was the big secret in the other thread? That thread some how appears to have disappeared now. LOL. Anyway, Neal simply doesn't seem to learn his lesson when it comes to getting hitch. I predict this one won't last even as long as the last. Is he on the sauce again? Maybe that was why he didn't wed Lori, she had him sober.

Maybe he learned what a pre-nup is.

I haven't read any official confirmation of that anywhere.....just rumors. Got link?
