If Steve Perry never got into that hiking accident...

Postby TotoFan77 » Thu Jul 14, 2011 9:19 am

It's crazy isn't it, just how different things would be today if Steve had somehow avoided that accident. Where do you think Journey would be today? That accident ruined everything.

If Sonny Bono never got into that ski accident Cher wouldn't have a "son".

What do you mean? I thought the story was always that he got into a ski accident, it ruined his hip, avoided surgery etc and lost his place in the band because of it. It seems that incident ruined him in a way and he never wanted to tour again. From the looks of it, that accident started everything didn't it?

It was a hiking incident.

If you mean am I on THE board, then yes, or how else would I be posting?
If you mean am I on board with the fact that it was reported to be a hiking accident and not, as has been suggested by our friend here, a ski accident, then yes to that too.

First, note the qualifier: If you mean am I on board with the fact that it was reported to be a hiking accident and not[...]

I simply agree that it was reported to be a hiking incident. As to whether or not there was one, I'm inclined to believe Perry really did have one. But I'm not inclined to believe that it was the reason the tour never happened.

I realize Loon reading comprehension is, across the board, well below par, but you'd think words like "reported" and phrases like "inclined to believe" would at least strongly suggest the idea that I don't have first hand information nor do I claim to. We can't all be Deano, now can we?

While The Gospel According To Gideon would naturally make for a fine, fine read, I must redirect you to the following:

it would not make any difference because his voice was not up to it any longer.

Months after it, he was asked about it by a caller, and he said he was fine.
He said he was hiking
He said he was mountain climbing.
He even said he was biking...though it's hard to tell.
He said he had an 'injury'.
He said he had a degenerative hip disease.

So, even Steve Perry doesn't really know what happened...Or, he at least can't keep his story straight.

He basically, took a vacation in Hawaii and had some private time. "Something" happened. He came back and a few months later did a few radio shows, on one he said he was 'fine'. Then he disappeared for months and when he reappeared he said he needed his hip replaced and don't crack the stone.

He was in the same spot with his voice where Augeri was with his last tour...he wouldn't be able to pull off a Journey tour and he knew it.

So, if he hadn't fell off a mountain, he would have hurt himself playing baseball. Or, he would have pulled a muscle while jogging. Or, he would have become allergic to the sun and stage lighting would make him sick. Whatever....a TBF tour wasn't going to happen with Perry.
