Go to the first third of the video for the City of Hope. They give Journey a plaque to commemorate the event.

This is true. Look at the tweets after the shows. There are some people who are still expressing surprise that Journey has an Asian singer even though it's been almost four years since he joined the band.
Awards like this and the Classic rock awards last year which recognized DSB as event of the year and Steve Perry as greatest AOR vocalist ever only cement the ties even further between the current lineup and Band Member #6.

Interestingly, the lack of Street Talk and For the Love of Strange Medicine in the charts confirms that this phenomenon works both ways.

Of course, You won't find me disputing that. I'm talking about Journey and the continuous association of Perry with that brand, even when he has not contributed anything creatively to the band or for that matter to the music industry in general over the last decade.

First that is an awesome milestone for the band.

But did anybody notice how flat they sounded? I mean Arnel sounded nothing like his normal self on Faithfully and the others. He is also back to slurring his words and not coming off as crisp.

I will tell you as a singer that 8 am is not a good time to sing. Your voice is not at its peak in the morning. Our choir director hated that Choir was early morning, he said our pipes were not woke up yet. And we did sound better at night. Why do you think most concerts are not in the early morning?

Because people who have time to fish or attend concerts normally have to work during the day? Just a thought, Gin, just a thought.

This is part of it yes.    But also because a singers voice is not in condition early morning, ask any singer if they can sing real early in the day. Not many can well.

Maybe that's why I sound better - strike that - less horrible in the morning than I do the rest of the day when I'm singing along in my car. I'm NOT a singer.

I will grant you about the voice not being in prime condition, but the slurring of the words and not pronouncing them right? That is not what I want to hear this coming Wend night in Cincinnati. When I saw them in 2009 it was great, and he was spot on with everything. Now, I'm not sure if it is his being tired or if he is just getting a little lazy, either way, I expect to be able to make out the words to the songs.

Let me say this...if you had to sing on Wednesday night, then Thursday night, then hop on a jet, get no sleep and sing at 8:45 EST (which JUST knocked off ANOTHER HOUR), I might not sound so hot either. Let's keep it in perspective guys. Do you really think that ANY of us could keep up such a grueling schedule AND sound good/look decent??

Remember it was also raining while they were trying to set all that stuff up!! What a nightmare!!! Poor tech crew!

Just sayin'.....

PS- I sing at 7:30 in the morning and then again at 11:00. I can tell you I can definitely sing MUCH better at 11:00 than I do at 7:30. We even dropped the normal key change for the early time this week. Too stinking high that early!!!!

No one is disputing any of what you say. The more important question is why management scheduled zero promotion while they had 6 weeks off prior to the album's release. That's what's being questioned.

Wow, I didn't realized how short Neal is. How tall is he? 5'5". I assumed Arnel is around 5'3".
