Yeah, they did that back when they had La Do Da also in the setlist. I don't think it was for more than a handful of shows though.

Dan, I saw the U2 stadium show and it sucked. A stage that high and takes so long to put up should attack a major city. It did nothing and U2 were a major overrated bore.

If singing 14 songs is taxing him, it's no wonder that vocally challanging songs like Tantra have already been dumped.

If a set list that short is taxing him after only 4 years then they have a serious problem brewing. The 3-4 hour set list on the last tour didn't do Arnel's voice any favors.

Maybe Irving knew what he was doing after all.
One opener instead of two would have Journey doing 17 to 18 songs a night at minimum.

Definitely a smart move on his part. Arnel wouldn't make it the entire tour with a set list that long

I'm glad I saved my money and did not see this tour, which is the first time I've missed this band since they returned. Although the Chicago date was somewhat early in the tour, I knew it was still just late enough to where they would be scaling back the new songs. I see we are down to two. The thing that I did not expect at all, let alone this early in the tour, was to see the setlist scaled down to a Motley Crue-esque 14 songs. I would have been PISSED had I thrown that much money for a ticket and got only 14 songs. I would have and did expect only 2 or so new songs by the time the tour rolled through Chicago - hence my decision to not go to the show. I've heard the old songs enough over the last 13 years live as well as them being overplayed on radio and my CD player. Having already seen Arnel 3 years ago, the only reason to really go this time was to hear new songs. Even though the album is mediocre, there are still enough good songs to play live - which most of the good songs, sans COH, have been played live at some point. The tour started with 19 songs being played (I believe 4 of them new songs), then down to a still respectable 17, and now we are down to a paltry 14 songs. Who's made up the lost time with the scaling back of 3 to 5 songs? Have the other two bands picked up time? If I was the promoter or more likely the venue, I would be a little pissed with the show ending 10-15 minutes earlier than expected. Grant it, the promoter already made his money, the venue's beer sales are probably already cut off, so the fans are the only one screwed. But, they are the paying customer and if this band plans on touring again, people may remember a short setlist at a steep price and not return next time. So, the venue and promoter probably do have a vested interest in this.

I agree with Dan, if they were going to do this, they should have just opened for someone or still co-headline with someone but not be the closer. Or they should have done AR's idea and did an Escape 30 tour. Deen sings 3 of those songs typically (WCN, MF, & KOR), leaving Arnel 7 songs to sing of that album. He could probably sing another 5 or 6 songs from the catalog and that brings their total up to 16 or so songs - the minimum for a full set.

I've toyed with seeing them this year at a couple different venues. I was pretty much committed to one out of two choices. Fuck it now. I'm not going to lay out that kind of money
for a shortened set list.
