My most memorable Journey moment

York State Fair (PA)

I was at work, the day after 9/11. I had plans to attend the show, but with all that went on figured that was out the fucking window. I get a call from my brother (Sting, megaphone = ask Dan) around noon and says "Hey Ed the show is actually still on, but Night Ranger are stuck somewhere with all the planes grounded - still want to go?)

Thought about it for a bit and decided - Fuck yeah!

We drove from Baltimore to York, PA - which is about an hour. My brother's car was a piece of shit and we had no radio so that was strange. Also the lack of planes in the air was very disturbing.

Immediately it was a different kind of show. American flags all over the stage. Steve A, being from New York said early on they thought about cancelling, but decided to play if anyone showed up.

This was the final show of the Arrival tour.

What a terrific concert to get to. I'm so glad Journey decided to play that day. America needed it. Do you have the setlist??

I remember going to work that day and the absence of planes was incredible except for those fighter jets flying over. Certainly not a time I want to relive. It's much happier today, but I'm glad you got to go to such a memorable concert!!

That would be my very fist live concert at age 13 seeing Journey at Riverfront Coliseum in 83 on the Frontiers tour. No concert has ever even come close to that one. If I'm VERY VERY lucky I will get to see that lineup again, but I'm not holding my breath for even a second in hopes of that happening.

I was at that show, as well. There was definitely a different vibe in the air that night....I had chills the entire evening, even though it was warm outside. I probably have the setlist somewhere...and some photos.... will try to look for it-- however, the setlist was not really different from any of the others on the Arrival tour. I would have to list that show in my top most memorable Journey shows.

I'm very surprised they decided to play the day after, especially in that part of the country. The nation was so much in a state of shock. Did a lot of people attend?

I saw them in July of 2001 in Chicago. John Waite played first, then Peter Frampton and Journey. I remember Neal came out and played with John Waite on one of the songs, which was pretty cool. At the end of the show, Neal was wearing a baseball cap and threw it out into the audience. My boyfriend caught it! Later he managed to talk his way into getting us backstage to get it signed by everyone. Definitely was a cool experience in my book!
