I have nine people going to what's shaping up to be a substandard concert. Fucking morons.

I have no doubt the band will play just fine and I know for a fact that Arnel has a hell of a voice. But it's the decisions that band and management make that annoy the holy fuck out of me.

The idea that Deen shouldn't sing because "it confuses the audience" is absurd. He's got a great voice, people enjoy listening to him, and it gives Arnel a break. Win-win. The idea that they're only playing two songs off the album they spend so much time fellating is ridiculous, especially when the two that they aren't playing are widely considered the album's strongest. And the songs they've added to the set are just fucking monstrously stupid.

Morons, morons, morons.

Hearing LaDoDa would make my whole night. I remember flipping out the first time JSS did it!! Nothing wrong with WYLAW either. I think it's great they're mixing up the setlist a bit especially when they've got several shows around the same area!

I agree with many who don't think the crowd would accept more then 2 songs from Eclipse and I would think both of those are easier on AP's voice as well!!

I've also read several times when Deen is singing there are always the comments about "why isn't he the lead singer?" Which IMHO is why he is not singing this year. I'm bettin' by the end of the tour or the next one Deen will be singing again.

La Do Da as an encore???

and I agree, LTS may have rocked with Augeri, but does not with Arnel

wheres Resonate, Someone, or even the very radio friendly AiP?

only thing good about City of Hope is its a great bathroom break, beer run song...

Deen needs to sing, Mother Father, After the fall, still they ride...

Journey management thinks we are all stupid.

glad i am not wasting $ on this tour.

Where is ESCAPE?

La Do Da and LTS are two of the worst songs in the Journey catalog. WYLAW is a great ballad, but not appropriate here.

Indeed. At least they aren't adding "Baby Imma Leavin' You" to the setlist (as far as I know :?).

Hope they switch the setlist around with more songs from Eclipse and bring back "Mother, Father" (be it Deen or Arnel singing it matters not to me: Heard Deen sing it back in 09 and would love to hear him sing it again, but I'd also love to hear Arnel's take on the song).

Heck, make MF and "Who's Cryin' Now?" the encore. That'd be pretty epic by my standards.

La Do Da is a really fun rocking song that just sticks in your head for days! There'are a lot of songs on the earlier albums like Sweet and Simple, Homemade Love YUCK! etc. I can't stand, but these are OK. LTS is just overplayed, but that's just my opinion and taste. To each his own. I remember at a Vegas show when they did LTS as an encore the entire crowd was singing Na Na Na in the lobby as they exited the venue. It was really cool to hear!

Even though it seems odd to have at the end for encores, I thought watching (broken -- multiple segments) footage from the performance of those songs was pretty cool because they chained them together pretty smoothly without stopping.

This is far from absurd. In Vegas this year the five people in the row behind me were confused as shit when Deen sang and then started accusing the band of lip synching saying they started the tape and the singer wasn't even on stage. I turned around and told them the drummer is singing and they looked at me like I was nuts and just kept yelling "lip synchers".

La do da is a cool rockin Journey song. Nothing wrong with that in the setlist.
LTS should never be in there again unless someone else sings the thing as Pineda certainly can't.
When you love a woman shouldn't be sang by anyone other than a certain former Journey frontman. :D

Maybe Schon has realised that Eclipse just aint very good and 95% of the audience do not wanna hear it

Glad to see that I wasn't the only one to feel this way. I've been a huge Journey fan for almost 30 years and this is the first concert I saw of them where I walked away somewhat disappointed feeling I didn't see a complete Journey concert that I've grown to expect.

There were too many favorites that were mssing in this abreviated set. There was no Keep on Runnin, Escape, Only the Young, Who's Crying Now, Just the Same Way, Feeling that Way & Anytime, etc.

Why wasn't Deen singing anything as he's been doing on the last few tours? I look forward to this since he brings his own flavor when he sings.

They need to get rid of these 3 band tours as it's totally unnecesary for a third band and is probably part of the problem. All it does is raise the price of tickets and shorten the time of the bands that you really want to see have to play.

It's not and there is. It's just a crappy song all the way through: horrible writing, horrible structure, and hardly a crowd favorite. There's no reason for it to be there.

WykkedSensation wrote:LTS should never be in there again unless someone else sings the thing as Pineda certainly can't.

The only reason LTS is in the set is it gives Neal an excuse to do an extended jam. There are far better written hits that they ignore because the opportunity for shredding is slim (I'll Be Alright Without You, etc.).

Augeri has nothing to do with this, so all I'll say is Arnel knocks that one out of the ballpark.

Okay, I can get playing When You Love A Woman in the Who's Crying Now/Send Her My Love spot. Fine. Whatever. But you have to be kidding me - essentially replacing Only The Young with La Do Da? And putting it in the encore with LTS? That's absurd. Awful. I'm sorry, but that's not going to cut it. Glad I got to see two really solid sets in Chicago and Indianapolis, because at this rate - it looks like Nashville will be a dud. Fifteen songs, and three of them are WYLAW, La Do Da and LTS? Ridiculous.

I did have a Journey-friendly username until the band so unprofessionally did what they did to the amazing Jeff Scott Soto. I felt that he really brought something fresh to the band (not a Steve Perry soundalike). I went to the Jones Beach show on Wednesday because I had heard positive reviews on Arnel and also because I knew I would not be disappointed with Night Ranger and Foreigner. I've seen Journey w/Perry, Augeri, and JSS. This incarnation just is not for me........

Be happy for JSS that they let him go. Take a listen to the I believe it was the Reno soundboard. The band is kicking on all cylinders, but JSS is straining his voice and probably would've blown it out had he sang with the band for an extended period of time.

I wouldn't. As mentioned before, it's a disaster and testament to the overarching problem of the pre-Cain era: horrendous writing and lackluster structure.

It's not the placement in the set so much as its presence there that's the problem.

Agreed again, Gid. Not only is La Do Da bad as an entirely major fail as it is for just BEING on the set-list, they put it as an encore, which automatically catapults over a facepalm, and confirms it as a double-face palm. Agreed with LTS as well. One of the songs in Journey's catalog that I just can't seem to stand.
