It's evident JRNY's just a way to pay the bills nowadays, not a real band like they were with Perry, Augeri and JSS.
Some of these points I can somewhat agree on, but some not.
1. I think he's got some stage presence, it just may not come across as as natural as some frontmen. And coming after JSS's great stage presence, can't be an easy feat.
2. I haven't listened to much current journey besides the album 2 or 3 times at the beginning and some current youtubes.......but I have no problem with his accent. Doesn't even factor in for me. It's more so your point # 4 that does.
3. Don't understand this one, I don't find Arnel's vocals 'harsh'?
4. This one I can somewhat agree with, he's got a great voice, but not the naturally soulful/emotive type delivery that ranks tops for me. He's also got a way of dragging out some of the words just a tad too long that bothers me. Not all the time, just sometimes. And yes I know Perry did that also, but to me, in a different way......one of the one things I love about that 1983 Still They Ride performance (i.e.,..... 'chasing thuuuuuuuunder') but I don't know if it's
what words Arnel's dragging or
how he does it.....can't really easily put this one into words.
5. Truthfully I think there is really good chemistry with Arnel and the other guys, but not as much as his immediate predecessor when it comes to how to work a stage. I think with JSS it comes more naturally (more history of playing in different bands and w/ different artists) and he makes a point of walking over and connecting/sharing the spotlight with each of the guys. Quite often connecting with Deen, Neal, Ross and even Jon.

6. I'm not noticing a disconnect between the others.

Do they seem to be as happy to be playing together as Mr Big is, definitely not, their stage chemistry is off the charts. But IMO there is a connection there for the most part. And I have nothing against Ross, but a few random goofy faces is one thing, I would imagine he can be a bit much sometimes.
