Hey all,
OMG - I can't believe I just won the contest that Fan Asylum just ran for the Q&A that Steve Perry just completed last week. My email was picked from 1,000 emails that got sent in, and I'm going to receive an autographed copy of Greatest Hits Vol. 1 & 2, personally for me, in November
This is soooo cool - I never thought I'd ever get Steve's autograph, and I very rarely wiin contests! WOW!
Just wanted to share some happy news!
Rock on Journey Fans!
Regards,
Michael G.

Rip (Dan),
Thank you very much! I'm so excited ... this makes my day - I just got to see Journey in West Palm on the 18th, so this kind of completes the circle this year for me, after the Eclipse CD and all ...
Here were the questions that I had emailed to Lora / Fan Asylum, on 8/31 ...
Here are my two questions for Steve:
1. Steve, thanks for all of the amazing music from your soul over the years. I'd be interested in finding out your level of involvement in the process of developing the Greatest Hits Vol. 2 - Did Sony reach out to you first, and did you simply select the songs / track order? Or, did you also help with the packaging / photos / liner notes? Was the remastering process the same as what was used for the 2006 CD remasters, or were the tracks updated again in the studio specifically for this release?
2. We've heard that you've been in the studio, in 2009, with Russ Miller as the drummer during the recording sessions. Are these the same sessions and songs related to your statement from this year that indicated that you have "50 songs written" and ready to develop? Were some of the tracks the same, or did you write different songs for the newest batch? I love your voice (all ranges) and your emotional delivery, and even if your voice has changed due to the aging process that hits all singers, it would still be great to hear new material from you - perhaps a different style change, similar to what Rod Stewart did recently? What are your thoughts on this?
Rip, thanks for all that you do for the Journey fan community - Journey Friends and Family really means something because of your generosity and involvement! I don't always post here, but I'm a longtime reader (almost every day, since 1998) ... Love this community / forum, and most of all, I love ALL versions of Journey, Past & Present!
Regards,
Michael G.

In the Q & A, Perry says Neal wanted "Little Girl" included, so apparently the guys had some input into the track listing.
