Asian tour pushed back to 2013?

Postby Don » Thu Oct 06, 2011 4:44 am

I heard rumors of this over the weekend and now see on Facebook that Andrew has heard the same.

2012 looks like an abbreviated tour of Europe and the regular North American Tour.

Arnel was really excited about them doing five shows in Japan next year, even asking for setlist suggestions. What happened to kill that?

I would say it's because of road stress, but I would definitely like to hear your opinion on it.

My opinion doesn't matter around here. That was established long ago......but I normally do always have something to say.

Neal motherfucking Schon! I think they were over zealous for this years tour, then even though they had quantity, they let
quality go to hell. Neal got his way on an album that has good music, but was poorly promoted and flopped in sales. They ran
Pineda into the ground and falsely called this year's tour the Eclipse tour, when so little of the album got played. I don't give a shit
if they only play 4 gigs next year if they'll give the fans their money's worth and no triple bill bullshit. Creativity has flown out the
window and it will be left to be seen if they can reinvent themselves, or just fade into obscurity. Also, the economy is not out of the
woods and we could easily slip back into a recession and I don't think Azoff wants to allocate too much budget to Journey at this point.

I'm absolutely rejecting this post. I asked for your opinion, not general tabloid fodder. I'll give you one more try.

If 2013 happens at all for Journey, I'll be surprised.
I still think that an unsuccessful album, and all the tabloid crap, has probably put the brakes on.
Hhm, may not even be much of 2012.

Love you Journey, but...we'll see...

So when the music dies down and the curtains have closed and the spotlight turns off of schon this tour...
any bets on how fast the salahi chic runs? And whom does she focus her sights on nexr?

Maybe that's part of the plan. Azoff let go of the reins until it's time to pull Neal's choke chain. Maybe he pulled it hard. I hope he did. Neal needs a good whack upside the head with a 2x4.

With Eclipse bombing, they've over extended themselves and are pulling back a bit. It's crazy talk to say they didn't care if the album sold. It seems to me that they were counting on it...the album has 'legs', yeah right. it got up and walked into some hole in Arizona to be buried cuz it didn't sell near what was expected. Those were the only legs it had

So, yeah, they'll slow down and enjoy their senior years a bit more...cuz the resurgence is over.

Well, historically, who will he (Schon) tap next? I mean, it's not all just her, no?

Perhaps, that's exactly why it's being reign'd in. There's probably a much greater back story here. Azoff, maybe someone unknown to us, Perry (Yeah, many think he still calls some shots.), et al, ... they're gonna let whatever fade, let egos cool, and re-eval, before committing to anything 'more financial'. A tour of whatever size 180 degrees away is probably very expensive.

It only makes sense. But who really knows? Maybe Cain's growing Nashville presence is creating concern. Maybe Pineda is talking real fatigue. (Something Augeri should have done early-on.) Or maybe, just maybe, Schon himself wants everything to settle-down for awhile.

Muy interesante, no?

Could just be simple explanation.
3 out of 5 members are pushing 60 and over. Globetrotting and playing all over the world is hard on the body, and Arnel's pipes need to hold up. Asia fans will be disappointed with the wait, but probably makes sense for the band to not push themselves.

Live cd or dvd is their only option to get back on the charts.
