Journey soars to the top of the Hot Tours rankings with box office grosses reported from outdoor amphitheaters and arenas during the North American summer leg of the Eclipse Tour. After launching the tour in late February, the band played Latin American and European dates during the spring before kicking off its U.S. and Canadian schedule in mid-July. The $21 million in box office grosses included in this week's tally come from 33 one-off performances that occurred from July 23 through the end of September. The largest crowd during the summer trek came from the Chicago market with 20,688 in attendance on July 30 at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in city of Tinley Park. The top-grossing venue was the 19,900-seat Comcast Center in Mansfield, Mass. on Aug. 12. The Boston-area outdoor amphitheater brought in $962k from 15,470 tickets sold.

No, that is the Journey/Foreigner/Night Ranger - PACKAGE tour.

You know, the one where Journey are pissing their dedicated fans off in favor of the casual crowd and ignoring a pretty good recorded product in favor of an oldies greatest hits show?

Despite the high ranking, that 21 million gross needs to really jump with their October shows to match the 35.6 million they made in 2008.

Not sure how many, if any of the acts above are doing triple band packages besides Journey.

I was at this one....they did play City Of Hope and Edge Of the Moment from Eclipse and Never Walk Away from Revelation at this show...
also Mick Jones was present with Foreigner.

Saw Journey there with Deano when JSS was in the band. Went drinking with Jeff and Neal after the show at a bar and then back at the Boston Marriott. WILD scene.

These figures make me ponder a hypothetical: if you were the guys in the band, would it bother you that this very strong performing tour numbers-wise has nevertheless been critically panned by a lot of your fans?

I think I'd probably still be bothered if I were Neal or anyone else in the band. But then I'd look at my bank account and probably feel a little better.

It's all about the Benjamins $$$$$ and I don't blame them. Neal got to be creative on the CD and obviously is shredding to his hearts content.

The $21 million in box office grosses included in this week's tally come from 33 one-off performances that occurred from July 23 through the end of September.

I wonder what will be the total if they include all the tours.

2 Pre-tour shows
22 Europe
10 South/Central/North America
49 Mainland US
1 Canada

Arnel has always maintained that he gets paid up front for everything he does with Journey. That makes it sound like he gets a set amount regardless of how much the touring grosses.
