Saint John wrote:Not really. The fact that he even wanted to remain a paid member shows a level of indecency that's almost beyond reproach. Like Herbie said, the guy's "just a jive motherfucker." He couldn't cut the cord and let the band go on. For all we hear about "riding coattails," he was sure the first to do that, and the one that's done it the most.
If you helped invent the car and then one day were no longer
able/willing to help make or drive them, would you give up your share/rights
for your part in the creation?!? Do you think Neal would have?!? He may be
duuuhmb, but he's not stupid ...on second thought, perhaps Jon would
be the better example. This was a fantastic business move and well deserved,
as it would've been for
any of the main songwriters/contributors!!
There is absolutely nothing remotely reproachable or indecent about the deal ...z-e-r-o!!
Saint John wrote:Per his own words, he asked his attorney's, something to the effect, to "draw up the papers and get the divorce started." That hardly sounds like a guy that's been fired. More like an amicable split ... with certain agreements.
Per Cain, he made the phone call (which ultimately cracked the stone) letting Perry know
they were moving on without him ...
Saint John wrote:That has nothing to do with anything. Businesses and corporations are in business to make the maximum profit, and watching him sit on the sidelines for almost 8 years, only to line the pockets of himself and others upon his return, with songs also made famous by Neal, John, Ross and Smitty was nothing short of classless and treasonous. This after the mass liquidation of assets, at Perry's request, almost a decade earlier which turned out to be another monumental mistake. This guy was an anchor to that corporation for many, many years.
I'll agree with the bolded,
in re: to the rest, Perry served as a lifesaver moreso than anchor.
If the band were just going to move on without him they shouldn't
have waited so many years. Why did they wait?!?
You say loyalty, I say they wanted more bang for their buck and they knew where the buck stopped ...
They have only themselves to blame for the missed years ....and I believe they'd do it again, given
the opportunity!!
Yep, chicken and egg ...I'll never believe the band is as stupid as they made themselves appear, we don't know everything!!
