Amid all the talk of politics and policy, we always love the occasional opportunity to meet the people whose talents we have enjoyed over the years in the entertainment world. It is the keyboards of Jonathan Cain that open massive Journey hits like “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Separate Ways.” He joined us in studio as he wrapped up a visit to catch some World Series and Cowboys action. We had a great time covering some Journey history. You can tell he still misses Steve Perry but appreciates the incredible work of Arnel Pineda, the singer they found on YouTube, of all places, to fill those daunting vocal shoes.

This is a busy dude– he’s in the wine business, he’s writing a memoir, and keeps a blog at JonathanCain.com.

Listen to the interview here.

A lot of class when Jon talked about Perry. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Cain should be the only one who gets to speak to the media when it comes to the band.

Agreed. He's a good mouthpiece for the band.

Oh, that's Mark Davis. He fills in for Rush when he's away.

Good interview...I wish Mark Davis would have let him finish his thoughts a couple of times though.

He was always polite when I was around him. Still say he was the one who wanted JSS out though, and that is only an opinion.

I think this was obvious. He wouldn't even let the guy sing Open Arms and Faithfully. The lead singer of Journey not singing these signature songs?

As for the interview....I kept waiting for the Davis closing ramble about a possible problem with Perry to lead to the obvious answer, that he couldn't sing at the necessary level anymore. Jon did a good job trying to answer yet avoiding answering at the same time.
