What does everyone think of it? Anyone get the vinyl? Thought about it, but went with the CD so I can listen to it anywhere. Can't really take a record player around.

It sounds good. Perry does a good job.

Listening to the mp3 versions right now. Little Girl sounds fantastic, a huge improvement over the sound from Time3 and Dream After Dream. I can't imagine how much better the actual CD probably sounds.

The order of the songs..takes ya on a rollercoaster of emotions..
Sonically..these songs have not sounded better in years...BIG sounds.!!!
If the mp3s sound this great...can't wait to get the vinyl & CD...& have a listen.

I had a hard time finding a copy. None at Walmart, none at Meijers. Only one copy at Best Buy. Beautiful day out though; great day to have the windows open and cranking Journey!

Sounds great so far; haven't finished listening to it yet.

This collection of songs is so great together sonically I feel like I just came off some kind of high by the end. I never listen to their GH1, but this will be played ad nauseum for quite a while.

I guess if you haven't listened to Journey' GH 2 yet...

I thought this wasn't going to be much different than the remasters but on the pre-Cain stuff, it is really cleaned up. Usually when I blast the older songs, they sound muddied but that's not the case here. The argument about skipping this purchase because of already owning these songs doesn't necessarily apply here because these tunes sound very fresh with what ever Perry and the other guy did to them.

That's what I noticed too. WLAL sounds awesome; completely different song.

I like the sequencing too!

While waiting for the new vinyls to show up... someone brought up the question
of.. does it make a difference what kind of needle you use, or is there even a difference in any needle?
I remember back when if a needle broke..we "borrowed" a sewing needle from mom ( she lost quite a few back then).... ..& scotch taped it to the arm...

Gotta say, this does sound amazing. I only have the Amazon download right now, but even the mp3's sound great. I echo previous comments about this release being more representative of the band than GH1. It really shows the diversity of those years.

I wasn't going to get it initially but the $3.99 price tag got me. The same thing happened with Eclipse to a smaller degree where Amazon had it for $7.99.

I bought the CD, sounds great after the first spin.

Much like the original Greatest Hits has done the past few years, this second volume seems to be doing a good deal of it sales as a downloadable product. It's spending its second day as the #1 mp3 album on Amazon.

I feel like a dick for saying this but I A/B'd the iTunes previews with my original tracks in iTunes (from Trial By Fire, ROR, Time3 etc), and I honestly couldn't tell a difference on the ROR/TBF tracks. Mother Father sounded monster, and the Departure tracks sounded much bigger. But Suzanne, etc I just didn't hear that much change. In fact Suzanne on ROR is mastered at a louder volume than GH2, so I'm sure the new version sounds clearer at a louder volume. But I'm on the fence about picking up the release since all I listen to is the ipod anyway.

Like I said earlier, I think it's the pre-Captured tracks that you'll hear a big difference. For me, the most notable was the song Little Girl. For what ever reason, It just sounded a lot better, especially at a higher volume.

I am being extremely nit-picky when it comes to GH2, admittedly. The song selection is good, but I think there's some odd choices. Where's Keep On Running? That got lots of airplay back in the day. Message of Love was closer to a hit than When I Think of You was. And, I've never been a fan of Why Can't This Night Go on Forever, but at least that hit the Billboard Top 100 Chart. The sequencing feels off to me, too. Cain-era tracks are featured on all but one of the first six tracks, and Rolie-era tracks make up all but one of the next nine. Greatest Hits 1 did a much better job of blending old with new.

Still, I do love that this exists, if only for the fact that it continues to demonstrate what a versatile band Journey was (and continues to be), and the depth of the albums that these songs come from.

Oh, and the price point for the CD is commendable, too. I picked mine up at Best Buy for $9.99.

This is true. I bought the MP3 downloads yesterday and listened to the entire CD heading down to see my fiancee. While I didn't really hear a lot of difference on the Frontiers tracks and beyond, the older tracks sound ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! I can't wait to get this on vinyl so I can listen to it in analog, but yes, I'd say if you're someone who feels the older stuff needed some life breathed into it, then the remaster did an awesome job on those tracks!

It's nice how this disc brings Gregg Rolie back to the forefront also.

I'm pretty sure there was plenty of room in that bin for When I Think of You and Good Morning Girl, too. Can I pretend those songs don't exist?

One of the things I noticed on the earlier stuff is Steve Smith's work. Some of the symbol stuff. I really miss his playing in Rock and Roll and Journey in particular.

Keep On Runnin' should've made it.
