In the last couple of days I've seen people say that "Lay It Down" "Dead Or Alive" "Back Talk" and "Troubled Child" are not good songs, or that they may even all out suck.

I've also seen in the past where some have said that "Can Do" sucks.

All of those songs rank as some of my favorites from the albums that they are on.


So, what are some of Journey's songs that you think are great that a lot of other fans don't seem to like?

"The Place In Your Heart" is an awesome song.

All four of those songs are good.

LITYB probably ranks last on my list out of the four? But it's not a bad song.

I love (The song) "Raised On Radio."
"Eyes Of A Woman" took a while to grow on me, but I do like it in recent years.
"Better Together" kicks ass. I love that song.
I have mixed emotions about "Believe." I like it in most ways, but it's too repetitive toward the end of the song with the chorus.

"Turn Down The World Tonight" is pretty good.
"Where Did I Lose Your Love" is another great song.
"To Whom It May Concern" might be my least favorite song from Eclipse.
"Baby I'm Leavin' You" is just a novelty song to me.

Almost everything post-Perry, especially the early years - "Remember Me", "Higher Place", "Signs of Life" - some of this stuff isn't just on par with the Perry years, it's better!

Whew! That's a lot of Journey tunes! And honestly, this selection of stuff while just mine, is probably stronger than quite a few other acts hits in some cases. It just shows how deep Journey's song catalog goes.

There are several songs I really like but I can see why they were never hits...music is a very personal thing and some songs just speak to you, even though the rest of the world just doesn't get them.

Living to Do is one of the most powerful, emotional songs I've ever heard. I wish they had spent a little more time on the lyrics, but the music is just haunting to me. They did this live and Steve A. really delivered. I love the way he sings it, but part of me has always wanted to know what Steve P. would have done.

Easy to Fall - the song I turn to whenever I screw up badly.

Lay it Down is one that I originally wrote off, but going back and listening to it today I think SP and NS both deliver powerful performances on the song.

Frankly I am glad Frontiers had TC and BT on it. It gave the album more diversity and got Journey back on the charts a couple of years later when VisionQuest came out. I bought the VQ soundtrack for OTY, but Madonna was just becoming popular at that time so a lot of people got the soundtrack for her songs.

Journey didn't stop with Trial By Fire. You can do better than that! There are plenty of good works after Steve's attempted demolition of the band.

While I'm a fan of Pineda led Journey, it's hard to argue with that comment there. Nicely said.

Agreed with most of the songs you listed, Lovin` You Is Easy is also one of my favourites with awesome guitar.

I'm Cryin' is a way underrated track.

Perry's vocals are smoking, and it is just a nasty hurtin' blues track where Perry and Schon are both terrific together.

So far I like and agree with most of musicfan17's list too. I'd also add Mother, Father...which I think is simply epic.

Amazing song, amazing performances all around, especially Steve's vocal. A song like this should have cracked the Top 40 at the least.

You're the first to mention in this thread I believe, so I'm picking up here..She's a Mystery just came on...very nice acoustic throwback vibe in the beginning, a great build / turnaround section, then the knock you on your ass second part comes in...a great Neal & Co. moment!
