2004 Journey Detour Concert now on YouTube

Postby The_Noble_Cause » Tue Dec 06, 2011 3:18 am

This was uploaded once before, but taken down. Looks pro-shot. For all purposes, this is pretty much the last real tour w/ Steve A. before the toll of singing 'the dozen' took him down.

Steve still sings great on this one...SW you mean just a couple of seconds of lipping, cm'on why would they even bother to switch for just a short time...SHML sound more canned....

but i like it , and the looks are good ...no more red leather (yikes)

Loved seeing this! I like the fact that even though its a show with more than just the DD, it seems to feature the whole band rather than just Neal shredding! Jon looks so much more animated too.

I don't understand why he would lip to 5 seconds of a song either?? Why not either do the song whole or lip the whole thing?

Is this the 2001 show from the DVD? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Mqq5oSj2eU

If this is still online when I get home I will capture it to my hard drive and see about getting it to DVD unless someone else does it first. I'm not going to be home for at least 5 hours though.

Good performance.

Now I'm just waiting for a full concert from the 2005 30th Anniversary tour 8)

Cool find. You can definitely hear Steve starting to struggle on some of these tracks. Touring these tracks just tears your voice to shreds. Doesn't matter who you are.

I forget what the program I have that does it is called (it was also pay software). Cheap Trick put a bunch of full length shows up on youtube and I captured those awhile back and they came out really good.

Send Her My Love piano intro was pretty cool. Much better than the tired twinkletoes ritual he does before Open Arms most of the time. Sure is hard to see Steve lipping the track though. Even 6/7 years later, it's unbelievable they tried to pull this one over on us.

this works pretty well and also gives the option to download just an mp3 of the audio. i usually wind up converting with another program after i download to make them playable on my ipad.

I like Augeri, but man...
he's doing all the money notes in a pretty weak falsetto.
Listen to Rubicon, his pitch is all over the place.
You can see that Deen is hitting the high note with him.
Augeri's a great guy. Class act. His recorded work was excellent.
But live he just had a really hard time with this catalog.
As much as I want to cheer lead with you guys, I can't.
I think he was just not good with live Journey.

Grab both concerts, if you can. I know Augeri was lipping in '05, but it's still a great collection of videos.

I have a full "puffy microphone" show from the Generations tour on DVD.

I'll work on the 05 show after I get through with 04.

If there was a particular part of a song that SA would struggle with, Elson would switch to canned audio briefly. As Herbie said, what started as a crutch spiraled out of control. But let's focus on the positive. All in all, it's a good performance from the guys.

He's just not a vocal alchemist like Perry. That's ok. Very few are, and there's more to being a frontman than hitting high notes using chest voice.

Don't think so. Pretty sure this is the unreleased Augeri Gens dvd. What a waste of money. The band would later use the same company for the Manilla Arnel dvd.
