Billboard is reporting that Adam Lambert is in serious negotiations with Queen to tour . Roger Taylor gave them the information.

Just a lot of money to be made on tour by people wanting nostalgia for a night. Same reason as Journey and 98% of the older bands out there actually. It's a lot of money for not a tremendous amount of work.

Well, besides the fact that they will continue to sell out Stadiums around the world, as they did even with someone as un-Freddie sounding as Paul Rodgers what other point besides making money should there be?.

Journey still tours off of the back catalog so what is the difference (besides one act playing to 50,000 a night and the other 15,000)?

No... No... No... They should do what Journey did then...go get that guy from YOUTUBE who sounds virtually identical to Freddie and tour their dirty dozen one last time. Adam Lambert!?? Blah. I guess it's good for publicity sake.

THAT GUY from youtube is going to front their officially sanctioned Queen Tribute band which Roger Taylor put together.

Queen will have the unique opportunity to have two top tours featuring their material in the upcoming year.

I could actually envision the tribute band being the bigger act here in the States while the original band garners more appeal overseas.

I don't think the point is "relevance." Lots of 70's & 80's bands we love are still touring despite not having a hit in 20+ years. Queen is my favorite band of all time after the Beatles, and I take their legacy very seriously. I have mixed feelings...it seems weird to tour without Freddie, but as someone born in 1981 and thus missed the real Queen, I jumped at the chance to see Brian & Roger bring those songs to life in 2005-06. Paul Rodgers wasn't a good fit, but I didn't regret the decision to go and be in the same room as Brian May.

I'm okay with them touring with another vocalist as "Queen featuring" whomever...Queen more than many bands has spawned younger generations (myself included) of fans who never got to see them. But for fuck's sake, leave Adam Lambert out of this. Help us, JSS, you're our only hope.

(also, anyone else think Gary Cherone would be perfect for this as well?)

Lambert with anyone would be killer, bottom line is he by far is the most talented male singer today, and it's not even close. But i didn't say he was singing to his strong side. When i said he's the most talented male singer, i meant to say he was the best as far as staying true to the heart and bleeding out his strengths.
Strenghts are long drawn out vocals to showcase his unmatched vibrato and unreal range. Vibrato is attanable in head normal speeking voices, your one octive, 2 octive singers. He has no vocal enemy's lurking around with his technique. He's making money being a pop artist, not a singer. Adam Lambert sold out to music's version of Satan. I saw him live in Indianapolis, ive seen more singers than i care to list. Bottom line, Lamberts vibrato and bridge-jumping is at its best and i haven't gotten into his earth-shattering range, but more importanly, emotion. He has it all. But he sold out to the devil with popmusic to be sure and never sell pizzas. His choice may lead him rise to stardom late a in his career. Late may be better actually.

Agreed. Not Cherone's biggest fan, but Soto would be perfect. His Queen tribute concert was excellent.

George Michael is/was the best choice. But Queen's choice of Lambert over Soto is highly calculated, if not inspired. Lambert is far more relevant/popular/controversial, which would benefit the band more than an obscure artist like Soto.

If Taylor and May want to make a final greedy cash grab get Lambert

If they just want to go out and play and enjoy themselves again they will hire JSS = a friend, a Queen fan, more qualified for the job
