Journey finished at #18 with $39 million, about 3 million more than the 2008.. I don't think they count festivals unless you are headlining, hence the lower number of shows reported vs Journey's overall schedule. The band played to less people this year than they did during the Revelation tour but had more shows, just not nearly enough sellouts. The higher money tally this tour no doubt coming from higher ticket prices this time around.
The Revelation tour had 30 sellouts out of 52 shows where as this tour had 17 sellouts out of 73 shows.

Teamed up with better bands this time, justifying the higher ticket prices I guess.

I'm sure it's purely coincidental but the stateside sellouts seemed to occur more at the end of the tour when Journey's setlist changed to include more of the older songs while excluding all but one of the new tracks from eclipse.

The question would be, was the small increase in gross take vs the large increase in shows performed worth all of the wear and tear to the band?

Just making suppositions here but maybe this is why they might skip Asia next year. The financial returns from globetrotting might not be worth the physical and upfront monetary costs.

A little OT, but it seems that now the concerts have ended Arnel doesn't seem to be delving into some of the ridiculous cover concerts and TV appearances of the past. I wonder if Journey has muzzled him and he now realized that Bert is not where is bread is buttered???
