Madison's Video

I didn't know Madison had a video out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPwkTOppFrs
I'm not a big country fan, but I think she has a nice voice.

Part of this video was filmed on the last Journey tour. You can see the stage she is on has the scarab on it.

The girl needs to be spared. She doesn't deserve the same wrath around here that Journey gets. They earned it, she didn't.

Her voice is rich and deep and will do great in country music. I wish her well. I have had a baby picture from when she was born and have been a fan of this child since then. She is an amazing young woman.
Jon is an amazing talent at the keyboards and has written some of the best music Journey has ever played.
Some people love him, some love to bash him, but I believe we are going to see great things from this young woman yet.

Look at the video without sound and you would understand my analogy. Nothing to do with Journey or her dad. Would you prefer that we lie and say what Jon Cain would like to hear?

Maybe I am wrong, but by that latter statement your feelings of dislike for Jon come shining through a bit. Are you sure your dislike for dad is not being displaced on the daughter?

Not at all. I don't have anything against Cain. No one said anything negative about Madison yet the seventh post in starts saying to cut the girl some slack when there is no need to. It is obvious that members of Journey read here and there are some members of this board who don't want to offend them even if they are simply stating a truth.
If I like something, I'll say it (see my comments toward Jeremy and Susie P) and if I think something isn't up to par and could use some work, I'll relay that too (Trag, Madison). I'm not from this new PC school of handing out ribbons to all the kids so every one can feel that they are a winner.
If you are a strong determined person constructive criticism builds character and makes you better. If you are a bit weak, then the criticism may bite you instead. That's how real life is though outside the bubble so why pretend it's not on this message board?

Well then in that case it is your opinion or preference than personal dislike. On that note we disagree. At 18 she has a great voice and I think she will go far. If it is not your cup of tea then that is your thing. Most of us can agree on some music but we would never agree on liking all the same groups. It is not a matter of PC to me, it is a matter of what I like. And I like Madison's style.

I've worked in and around the music industry in Burbank for over a decade and I don't just say shit off the cuff.
As I said when she first appeared on these boards a few years back and repeated again this time, she has a very pleasant voice and she's a lovely young woman. However, I think she still has a lot of work to do to distinguish herself from the rest of the field. Maybe age and additional coaching from her father will help in that regard but at this point (from what I've seen so far), she still has a ways to go. I think the video, by using the darker hues and highlighting her pale features gave off a goth vibe and stated as such. If a simple observation like that considered unfair criticism, so be it. Not the child's fault as she didn't shoot the video but still, it is what it is.
A straw man is a component of an argument and is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position.[1] To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by replacing it with a superficially similar yet un-equivalent proposition (the "straw man"), and refuting it, without ever having actually refuted the original position.[

Check out Miles and Will's tune on this link. http://www.marinij.com/lifestyles/ci_19778352 Great song/ no video yet but they could take a VW with the top down from Muir Beach and up Mt. Tam and it would be perfectfilm at 11.

..and for that you owe Don an apology.

Who the heck are you talking to? If it is me, I asked him what he meant by what he said because of the way it sounded. He explained, I understood. I did not mean it as an attack. I think if Don thinks I owe him an apology he would ask me for one. As far as I am concerned it is not an issue. I have no ill will towards Don or his position.
But thank you Mrs. Cleaver for keeping me in line.![]()
I don't mean that in a mean way, just trying to joke with you.

Take a look at Don's post..... actually READ the sentence, say it out loud... and try to understand the whole meaning...artist4perry wrote:Don wrote:Look at the video without sound and you would understand my analogy. Don had already qualified his opinion and how he came to it.... "Look at the video without sound and you would understand my analogy. Nothing to do with Journey or her dad.
Did you watch the video without sound? even give that a moments consideration? I bet not.
This part: "Would you prefer that we lie and say what Jon Cain would like to hear?"was not rhetorical.. it was an actual question for you ...which you completely and conveniently ignored... because you had already decided he was wrong...
Now consider your response..
"Maybe I am wrong"
.... that's as passive aggressive as it gets... and it's you trying to absolve yourself of being responsible what you are about to post next.
"...but by that latter statement your feelings of dislike for Jon come shining through a bit. Are you sure your dislike for dad is not being displaced on the daughter?"
... This is perfectly obvious attack at Dons opinion... even though the 1st part of his post told you otherwise, and also explained how you could understand how he came to that conclusion... by watching the video without sound..
You chose to ignore what he offered and instead simply attacked the last part... the question for you... which you turned into his opinion.

As for the video, it was well filmed and Madison has a very pleasant voice, but nothing extraordinary. Perhaps with time and training, but she's no Reba. Nonetheless, I expect great things from her.
