Mother, Father live in Houston is without question my favorite Journey song. Maybe my favorite song-period.

Why Can't This Night Go On Forever is probably the most under rated of all of their ballads.

Fucking right it is, Rick. So is the album. I had retired it for awhile while I listened to Jeremey and Alice Cooper's new albums. It's still solid for me.
Gotta say Eclipse takes listening. A friend of mine bought it and threw it in a drawer just because he couldn't get through some of the intros and when I played it last weekend when we were barbequing, he was like WTF is this? I said it's the Journey album I told you to buy, but you threw in the drawer. It now has his attention.

I guess it does need a listen or two for some. Didn't for me.
Why they didn't market that record, I have no idea, but it's a very solid album.

Huh. Journey must be broke. Irving has no clue, except for how to sell tickets for exorbitant prices in the venues he controls. He does little to promote the artists albums, but then again why should he have to? Very different man than Herbie was. I actually want Herbie back more than I want Perry.

Very tough.
All the Way is probably the catchiest, After All These Years has the best guitar solo, Faithfully needs no introduction... but it's a tie between Send Her My Love and I'll Be Alright Without You.

Faithfully has seen a 421% increase since it has been showcased on "The Voice" at 14,731 downloads this pas week. It is now Journey's second digital single to cross the 1 million mark.

Interesting Ed. That was my wedding song as well. I've never considered "Mother, Father" to be much of a ballad, so that wouldn't make my list. "Open Arms" flat out SUCKS donkey balls and one of the absolute worst Journey songs, EVER! "Faithfully" probably wins this category every time. That said, "Why Can't This Night Go On Forever" (Lord, knows the fucking title does

) definitely is up there. Very underrated and unknown Journey song by many. Perry hits some notes in that song that are in fucking sane!

Why cant this night go on forever is one my favorites, very underrated, and one of steve's best vocal performances. Even the song was written for fans, it could easily be included in a wedding ceremony dance.

Good call, John. I can't believe I forgot about that one. Epic ballad.

WCTNGOF is pretty hard to top, given the interplay between SP and Neal, not to mention the keyboard outro by Jon. But if you count If He Should Break Your Heart as a ballad, then that reigns supreme above all others.

My only bitch about WCTNGOF is the ending. It ended very abruptly. A nice Schon solo to finish it out would have made the song, but it just fades to black kind of like they were in the middle of something and just said "fuck it".

That is no new revelation. If it walks that's Neals motto.

Really? I think it ended pretty much on cue, without becoming banal.

True, very true. Great melody. The whole album may not be your typical Journey, but musically it is very solid for the most part. Lyrically, it is not as cheesy as other journey CDs. It has a couple cheesy songs like AIP, but I really love Neal's playing on that one. I like the spiritual context and the continuity between the songs. EOTM is a great heavy riff. Arnel sounds great singing heavier tunes. He can do it live, too. There are some good clips of Tantra and others on YouTube. Annel is the right voice for this album.
