What the hell could they do? But.....let's not get too carried away here either. People get all wet and lathered over these discussions and ideas, but then reality sinks in and everyone realizes that it's just not ever going to happen. Here is the scenario, if the unreal ever happens:

I don’t think there’s anyway not to have Arnel at this point,” he said. “Who can say never? You can never say it’s never going to happen. Maybe ten years from now? Six years? Who knows? But if that situation ever came up, I think it would be the both of them. And I think it would be at the point where it’s a farewell tour … and we’re done. That’s the only appropriate way to go about it.”

In other words, when hell freezes over and the great one steps on the stage, that stage will be shared and Arnel would not be fired upon the appearance of Steve Perry. This tells me that Arnel has a claim to the deed and Steve is just not going to take it back upon demand. Those old stock certificates are no longer payable to the bearer upon demand.

Don't forget this "open door" policy has been put forth since the beginning of time....or during the Augeri years, anyway. I also recall Neal saying that SA was their current and last lead singer then, too. So, Arnel shouldn't be taking anything that is said at face value... lol

But this time is different. Neal adores Arnel. He never had a particular love for Perry, except for some of the songs they co-wrote. :P

I used to adore the muppets. ;)

Perry is on a pedestal..

SA, JSS, and AP are not on the same pedestal...

Schon making that statement is an attempt to make all other Journey singers "equal" to Perry, and hence minimize Perry's place on the pedestal.. above SA, JSS and AP.

The irony is - Schon shouldn't have to do this in the 1st place, unless he really does feel threatened by the Perry mythos.

:o

They're interviewed at the premier of the movie about their new lead singer, and all questions asked by the Huffington Post still revolve around Perry. I'd say yes, he is threatened.
