Miles of Will - Wild Ride featuring Miles Schon and Will Champlin

**Writer note - This album is a refreshing breath of fresh air amongst today's artists. Harkens back to a 70's - early 80's feel when music was clean/crisp and the lyrics not only matched the pulse of the music, but enhanced it. Outstanding effort on this freshman album!**

Miles of Will features guitarist Miles Schon and vocalist/keyboardist Will Champlin.

Miles, already a veteran in the music industry, comes from a family of talented jazz and rock musicians. Possessing extraordinary writing and guitar playing abilities, he plays with an incredible feeling and soul.

Will has extensive experience producing records in Nashville – which has only enhanced his already incredible music skills that are key in binding the melody that the band churns out.

Miles of Will recently opened for KISS at Raley Field in Sacramento, CA – producing proof in their product and a rapidly growing fan base, which can attest to that.

This brand new band blends blues, funk, classic rock 'n roll and is ready to ROCK! Miles of Will features Miles Schon, son of Journey guitarist Neal Schon, and Will Champlin, son of Chicago's Bill Champlin.

Is there anywhere to sample and purchase this without joining face book? I'm intrigued, but not enough to FB.

This makes them sounds incredible. I would've loved seeing/hearing them open for KISS.
Looking forward to hearing them.

Thanks. I was in a rush and didn't even read the entire original post. Looks like I shoulda done so!

At any rate, this sounds great. Reminds me a lot of The Fray with a little more oomph.

Why are these guys making it so difficult to get their album? Seems like a pretty big marketing faux pas. Sending an e-mail for ordering information? That seems archaic as hell.

If you're not going to do iTunes, at least do something like Jeremey did and let me order a hard copy CD and download the digital tracks while I wait for shipment.

Nonetheless, still going to try and order it.

Awesome! It sounds like something that could sell in the current music market and I like it too. That doesn't happen very often these days. Go Miles of Will!

It is very early in the selling process for the guys. Perhaps soon there will be other options available for purchasing the EP. I know a bit of the background and for now, the FB option is what they have. Thanks for being patient and giving it a try though.

For those worried about the s&h... I suppose in the grand scheme of things, it may seem a bit much or outrageous. However, when you consider the total price as a whole, it's quite a steal for a hard copy (non-digital download). Maybe if this EP is a success, they can move forward to selling digital only copies in the future (seed money would help a great deal in that endeavor - I'm quite sure lol).

Anyway... Thanks to all those leaving the positive thoughts and feedback! Hopefully it will be forwarded on to the guys and they'll keep on churning out great tunes.

I got the EP and listened to it quite a bit over a couple of weeks. Put it thru a solid rotation in my car... it's good. Flashes of melodic or funky brilliance. There were a couple of places where Miles showed a tendancy to Neal-style noodlefests in unexpected (or inappropriate) places. But I'd buy the full length effort when released, for sure.

Miles flies out today to Nashville to perform shows with Madison and Jonathon Cain. Those in the Nashville area keep your eyes open for dates. Believe first show may be June 20.

After Nashville Miles flies to Iowa for a show there with a different band. Do not have all the details yet.

Thanks, Les! :)
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Anybody go to this show? It was actually a really good time. I had never been to The Bluebird Cafe before, so I didn't know what to expect. Hugely historic place. Seats about 50-60, and the show was free last night.

It was a "in the round" format, where Jonathan, Madison, and two other super talented guys sat around in a circle with the audience surrounding them. They took turns playing songs and telling stories behind the songs. The two other guys write for some of the big country acts - Miranda Lambert, Toby Keith, Faith Hill, etc. Madison had Miles accompanying her, and she did some of her songs. Pretty catchy stuff. She has a good voice, and you could tell she enjoys playing in front of people.

Jonathan was the fourth to go each time around the circle. It was just him and his piano. He did I'll Be Alright Without You, Faithfully, a non-Journey song, Loved By You from Arrival, Open Arms, Who's Crying Now and then Don't Stop Believin'. It was cool to hear the stories behind those songs and hear them performed just with him and his piano.

Good times last night. The Bluebird is a cool place. It was great that Miles flew in to accompany Madison, too.

Nice review. Really, that's probably the best way to hear Journey material live these days as you got some of the stuff they don't play in their regular sets and in an intimate setting.
