Apparently, the stage version (which has great reviews compared to the movie version) also features Oh Sherrie in a big way, while the film just plays a few notes of that particular song.

Not exactly but yeah, in a weird sort of way. I also think the character Tom Cruise plays is based loosely on Axl Rose. It's all pretty campy with the Mayor and his evil wife who hates Rock and Roll (Catherine Zeta-Jones as a sexy Tipper Gore?).

I'm on the fringe with this one. I do know there are members here who partook in both the stage and theatrical versions who will be of more help.
