Who's singing lead vox at this show? I've heard conflicting reports. Jeremey or Jason (from Escape)? Thx.

Jason. He's filling in for me on about 5 gigs. I'm here with the band in TX and will be at all of our shows. Feel free to say hi, Tex.

Is that kind of like Deen filling in for Arnel when he needs a break? ;) ;) ;)

You back at it, Jeremey? Hope you are doing well and your voice is back.

Haha, well thank you Mr Steveo, but I am not back just yet. Unfortunately surgery can't repair muscle tissue injury, but it is important to me not to cancel the shows I had booked under the original doctor's orders back in Feb/Mar, and thankfully there's a few talented people out there who believe it or not want to help carry on this thing we created, and so stand up guys like Jason are thankfully stepping up to the plate to buy us some time and work this whole thing out. I can sing, but my injury was very specific to the music I was singing at the time I ganked all those muscles, so therapy shall continue. Just taking this time now to honor our dates and get to a point where I can focus again on making things work.

Jason Kelty is pretty damn great in this video. He needs a stronger band behind him (not to mention, they look ridiculous!). This video reminded me of some of the 2007 vids I have seen of Jeremy. He is nailing it, but some of the band just is up to his level. Not trying to be a dick, just being honest.

I'll be attending the Frontiers show in Cleveland on July 13. Will report with a full review on Kelty. Saw him once about 3.5 years ago with Saint John in a little dive bar in North Olmsted, OH and really enjoyed it. But at the time, he was singing in Eclipse, which performed more than just Journey songs, so I didn't hear him his full arsenal of Journey songs.

BTW, this band sounds pretty solid to me. What didn't you like?

They aren't bad, in fact, they are pretty good. Specifically, I don't like the guitar sound/tone and the guitar is slightly out of tune, weak backing vocals, and the overall balance of the band/ensemble could be better, but that could very well be the recording. Of course, this is nitpicking. They are much better than most of crappy bands I hear these days. Kelty's clearly on a different level than the rest of the band. He should sound great with Frontiers. Chesney's playing is great and can really keep up with singers like Jason and Jeremy. BTW, I have passed through Olmstead several times in the 90s. My brother and his family still live in Grafton.

I gotcha. I'll give the guitar player the benefit of the doubt here--he's using a pretty heavily processed sound and it's a low quality video. As you well know being a player yourself, delays and all that don't sound great on cheap video. Sounds like he's got some chops, and I liked what the keyboard player was doing. I'm no drum expert (not even a novice compared to what I know about guitar/keys/bass playing), but those perhaps were the weak link here to my ears?

Grafton has some awesome rural houses with tons of land. We used to have a family friend that had an unbelievable plot of land out there. Pond (where you could paddleboat), tennis court, tons of open space (where you could drive the golf cart around),... the whole 9 yards. Was awesome as a kid.

Where are you from anyway, Doug (is that right?)?

BTW, FYI: Chesney's no longer in Frontiers, but yeah, he is a great player (and great dude too).

No doubt, a cheap recording can make anyone sound like shit. Yeah, my real name is Doug. I grew up in western PA, haven't lived there since I was 18. I have lived in NY, TN, FL and now I have settled in southern DE. I even lived in Venezuela before Chavez. one of the worst sunburns I ever had in my life was in Grafton helping paint my brother's house. That is saying something considering I lived in south FL for almost 10 yrs!

No joke man, I think the sun is WORSE here than in Florida. I've got an Italian last name and Irish everything else, including pretty sunburn-susceptible skin, and I've gotten some brutal burns over the years. Even when I wear block, I'll sometimes get burnt. I spent a week in Florida in March and had no problems at all (wearing block of course, but still...). It's crazy here. I guess the sun compensates for only coming out about 3 months a year here

Very cool that he is singing with your band.

J, what is the time table (if there is one) for you to front the band again?

Had a blast seeing Frontiers in Baltimore and for those of you who have a Frontiers show in your area - they are doing a great show - just different.

There is no time table right now, we are just honoring the dates I had booked based on what my Dr told me, and moving forward from there based on my ability to return to the position or not. My voice since after two surgeries is definitely different, and we don't want to go out with just any singer and go on as jut another interchangeable Journey tribute show, so all things in due time.

Jason did really, really good, and a cool guy to be stuck in TX for a week with LOL. Yeah, it may seem kind of odd having a costumed front man subbing for a band that hasn't been known for that but it actually fit perfectly with the Jack FM fest, as maybe 80% of the other bands there were in costume. Saw some amazing acts there, including a Depeche Mode and a Cure tribute that was maybe the most amazing tribute show I'd ever seen.

Jason and Allen Brady (he's the guy Ernie saw in Charlotte) both will be doing upcoming shows with us. Also Mike Leigh and Ross Hancock from Baltimore have subbed.

I was surprised too. He can tend to get pitchy here and there, but he's dialed in on that clip.
