Saw this same lineup.. Day On The Green #2: Journey, Cheap Trick, Black Sabbath, Molly Hatchet, Shakin' Street (July 27, 1980)

This is the Schon I remember... clean but soaring tone... precise playing, serving the song... Smitty's syncopated brilliance... the perfect way Perry and Rolie's voice blended...

This looks like its proshot... and since Journey is just selling the legacy now.. what a better way to honor that than by releasing some old jems like this..

This needs to be redone and released....

Yep, and Perry's vocals sound dry, meaning no effects, and why not? He just didn't need them.

Perry and Schon were at their awe-inspiring best here. Too bad the songs are largely subpar.

Sadly, I wasn't really a fan of the Rollie-Perry era, save for a couple songs. It didn't really start for me until Cain came on board.

Me too! Looooove this one live...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9vROjzy9uI Perry and Schon's vocal/guitar intro damn near makes my toes curl. I just loves me some great bluesy rock! 8)

True.

I think the songs with JC were better, too. But all the concert shows (bootlegs) with GR sound amazing!

Agreed. Cain brought a songwriting savvy to the mix that was sorely missing before, but Perry sounded much better live during the Rolie years.
