While Cain helped elevate the writing of the group to where the lyrics became more than simple melody carriers, Rolie's time with the band did produce some great harmonic numbers before layering became all the fashion in the 80s.

As there are already a minimum of four pre-Captured tracks in the setlist every night, do you guys want more of that (Precious Time, WLAL, JTSW) or would you rather they add an equal number of Rev/Eclipse songs to balance it out?

Had to go with Rolie tracks just to avoid any possible "Damn, I thought I had to fart but some Eclipse came out" seeping into the show.

Rolie any day over some of the worst music the band has ever released.

Great stuff there, pre and post Perry.

The new Journey has been paint by the numbers or Neal solo material.
Nothing that will stand the test of time.

To hear next with Neal/Deen, or Deen singing sweet and simple would be worth the price of admission.

Never thought about Deen doing Sweet and Simple.... that would be good. I'd like to hear him doing WYLAW and Happy to Give.

Voted for more Rolie. It would be even better if Gregg was back in the band. I doubt he wants to get back to the grueling life of a touring musician, but even if he played a few shows here and there, I would be willing to lay down some serious cash to see it.

There is some great stuff on Evolution, Infinity, and Departure that needs to get played. I could go for hearing "Of a Lifetime" as well, but don't know if the band would be willing to reach that far back in time.

vote on the band's website ...course, they'd have to care about what
their fans wanted to hear in order to do something that advantageous/courageous.

There are two other choices, that I might be inclined to lean towards.

Augeri era
Non hit Perry era

Pineda.

I love the Rolie era stuff, but some of the live versions of Revelations from that tour were amazing and I'd love to see it come back. Not so much for Eclipse, because, although I like the album, most of what I've heard doesn't translate well live.

I'd kill to hear "Wildest Dream" again.
Not to mention the fact that the Rolie-era material is going to shred Arnel's voice quicker than anything with those stratospheric money notes.

Journey didn't really hit it's stride until the Perry / Cain era. Not sure many people are going to respond to those songs any better than they do the post Perry material.

Sit a bunch of people in an arena and Journey plays anything from Pineda or Augeri's era and the band plays Perry/Rollie Era songs. I can guarentee you more people will know and respond better to the Perry/Rollie era songs.

While not Top 40, Rolie Era songs Just The Same Way, Feeling That Way/Anytime, Stay Awhile/Good Morning Girl, Walks Like A Lady broke into the top 100 on the singles charts and received plenty of Airplay back in the day so there is some familiarity for the older audience members with those tunes. Not to mention, Line Of Fire and Where Were You were concert staples up through the Escape tour.

It was great to hear it on the 2005 tour, but it just isn't the same with JC singing it instead of Gregg. Talk about an awesome guitar solo, too.

If they happen to do a 40th anniversary tour similar to the 30th, I would love to hear the title track - Look Into the Future played live. The mellow beginning that just builds to the jam at the end of the song - cool tune that is very overlooked.
