"strick doctor's orders to rest his voice today". Hmmmmm. Didn't Steve Augeri get fired because of problems like this?

Lafayette fans will not have it anyway they want it tonight.

For the second time, the ‘80s pop rock band Journey has canceled its appearance in Lafayette. This time, the show will not be rescheduled.

According to a press release, the lead singer of the band, Arnel Pineda, is under doctor’s orders to not perform for the next month due to illness. The band’s Wednesday night performance was a do-over from its August cancellation. The band canceled its gig earlier this year due to safety concerns with Hurricane Isaac.

All refunds will be honored. Tickets purchased via internet or phone will automatically be credited. All other tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. The Cajundome added it is sorry for the inconvenience this has caused, but also asked fans to don’t stop believing in the power of rock ‘n’ roll.

The next month? The Journey site says the tour resumes in 2 weeks on 10/30?

A Drs "month" = a Journey's " 2 weeks" ?

I've traveled from Philippines/Japan to the US so much over the past 20 plus years and being on those jets and the weather changes really can put your dick in the dirt if your not careful. Adding to it that Arnel's a singer, his throat gets a bit worn from what he does and that opens the doors to lots of infection taking hold.

maybe they meant, until the next month?

either way hope he gets better, if its a vocal issue I wish they would play more Deen led songs,
even Perry had a lot of help Inifnity-Departure.

Just hope Arnel and his family are set financially. Really like the guy, just hope he's prepared when he's thrown overboard.

I would bet he's set. He's got something coming in for what he's helped write with Jouney and money goes pretty far in the Philippines. If/when the Journey deal ends for him I'm sure he will go on to do more music in the Philippines. He's a giant celeb there and has a very large number of friends so I don't see him hitting hard times.

Well, the past is finally catching up to these guys, and now they are backed into a corner.
Can't try to fall back on "canned" vocals; been there, done that, caught.
Can't just unfairly and selfishly throw the guy out on his ass like they did to Augeri because,
unlike back then when they "thought" they could move forward with yet another
lead singer change, there is no going forward without Arnel...

Hope Neal didn't spend too much on that rock; he may be dipping into his savings soon :-)

He's just sick. It's not like he's blown his voice out. He needs to take time off to avoid making things worse and getting an infection that will have prolonged consequences. Tape gate one was enough. They won't do it again and go out in shame. They are not going forward without Arnel, for without him they know they are done. In fact all the members have said directly, or in so many words, that the band will last as long as Arnel does and when he's done, so are they. I'd hate to have people read too much into this. I wish Arnel a speedy recovery.

I know he's just sick, and I am not reading too much into it.
I just think this is hilarious because, "before he blew out his voice",
Augeri was sick a few times, and the band played on. They didn't take care of him.

I just think it is funny and sad at the same time that they have learned their lesson.

Neal might be a bit thick, at times, but I believe this time he has learned. The bond between Neal and Arnel is pretty tight, not to mention Arnel is the golden goose that is gonna carry Neal and the rest of the band off into the sunset. They'd damn well better take care of their investment!

I wish Arnel the best...If some of you long time fans remember back in the day....Steve Perry got sick on the Raised on Radio tour but somehow played night after night.....Atlanta, Ga was where he actually went to the hospital for being ill....The tour was cut short in Alaska due to a sinus infection which lead to the ending of a great era in ROCK......Neal made Steve feel so bad about it, that Journey never really reformed again outside of the studio.

If you call firing Ross and Smitty on top of the world, then I guess........ The rods were knocking and there was saw dust in the crank case....the Journey engine was about to blow and it did. What Perry did to Journey for ROR is a Rock n Roll travesty. (" it seemed like a good idea at the time"). ;)

Gosh oh mighty...You watch way too much TV..................The split on Raised on Radio was something the whole band agreed upon...If you have any computer skills, read Jonathan Cains interview from 1987....Steve Perry really didn't want to tour behind Raised on Radio....The family problems where so bad at that time( his mother passing and a DUI his daughter was charged with being under age of drinking).........It was very clear in 1986-1987 that Steve Perry was done with Journey for awhile..........Steve Perry tried to release a solo album in 1987 and again in 1989 called Against the Wall......But Herbie Herbert made that impossible because he wanted Journey back together so he could by another house overseas....thats why he dedicated the song " WHY CAN"T THIS NIGHT GO ON FOREVER" to his loyal fans on that tour in 1986 ...Do something your whole life and try to imagine it over, but nobody knows but you....Depression sets in along with life changing health issues.....until you have walked the walk......shut the fuck up !!!
