Scary that sometimes you can't tell. The beak was missing in this song (no nasal), so I concur, it is Arnel.
I'm glad they are doing this gig. Say what ya may, but Neal and Michaele seem pretty genuine.

Not sure what you guys are hearing, but that is 100% Perry right off the record. Did go to a local loud show a couple nights ago, but I don't think my hearing is that fucked up.

How could you possibly say that's Arnel? The music is totally 80s production. That's Steve Perry.

No question about it, it's Perry. Gotta be deaf to think otherwise.

Just wondering why would they use a track with a Perry vocal...seems like a good chance to feature the band as it is.

Would they even have a studio quality track of Send her my Love with Arnel like that?

Did they do send her my love on the remake CD?
And if not does it need to be SHML?
Wouldn't City of hope work?
My point is Journey will never move on until the really do decide to replace Mr. Perry

Scary that anyone would believe this is Arnel,
Deen, possibly, Arnel no.

Sounds like Frontiers Perry.

It was certainly a big change in direction for the band.

Ya.. the Journey I loved ended when Escape dropped.... just didn't care for the guitar tones or the mixes... I prefer the more rockin' pre-Escape Journey.. prime-time Journey for me was Infinity-Captured.

Captured is the best live album, ever. I'm with you on that era. It's what I listen to most anymore. That and ROR, believe it or not.

Yeah I like ROR too.. the Cain influence is just to "vanilla" for me... although I do appreciate his writing talent.

You like ROR and not Escape?
Admit it, you only like Journey for Perry. :P

I agree wholeheartedly that Captured is Journey's best live album. But not because of the songs, rather for Perry's voice.

No.. I like Journey.... but the era I favor is the Perry/Rolie era, because it's the era of my high school years...

Infinity/Evolution/Departure = sophomore/junior/senior years for me.. and I grew up in the SF Bay Area so the Rolie/Perry combo has special significance for us Bay Area folk, as Rolie is from Palo Alto, a local town...

Back then, 99.9% of those who embraced Journey back then did it because the songs and the singer... while we all came to appreciate Cain's contributions... the magnet was the vocals and songs... first and foremost.

No one but the diehard music fans knew who the band members where.. there was no Internet.. Rock on TV was limited.. most of us didn't care... we just loved the music.

Yeah, I was just busting your balls.
I personally can take very little of the pre-Cain years because it was the same "vanilla" sound minus the rock and the polish. Cain wrote or co-wrote the heaviest songs Journey's seen as well as its best ballads.

But all of it was long before my high school years so.

funny... for me Escape is when they over polished their sound... I still appreciate it... just not as much as the pre Escape stuff..

I understand, different strokes and all that.
Strokes... polish... I see where this is headed.

See, I disagree. I loved that sound they had before Cain. They put a lot of the fusion they used before Perry into those tunes and added Perry's vocals. It worked really well for me. Every album from Infinity forward moved away from the jazzy/bluesy fusion they used in the original three Journey records, a bit at a time, but you could still tell they were trying to hold true to their original roots. My absolute favorite parts of those first three records with Perry were the duo's with him and Rolie. They were absolute magic when they did that. My ultimate favorite is "Just The Same Way".

Yup.
With Rolie they had that R&B,Soul thing going on and with Cain they turned to a more pop/rock sound with still ofcourse a large portion of soul because of Perry. It gave Journey that special flavor ..kind of "Vanilla ice cream with chocolate on the top"
I love both eras !
