The lack of wingman and hotel will likely sabotage my presence alas.

From what I understand, it's not open to the public. It's 2300 people, some picked in radio drawings and things like that. It's supposed to air at 11pm (I don't know why so late) on the CMT network I believe.

I believe these are people selected to be in the pit, not the actual full audiance. As for the time, was this pre-recorded?

Correct, but I procured two tickets from 1iota to be part of the audience. My gf can't go, along with my immediate choices. The short notice confirmation really screwed me.

Corrected to 2300 people, forgot a zero. 300 will be in the pit. It's supposed to air live that Saturday night at 11pm ET/PT on the CMT network. I don't think everyone has that channel so you'll have to check your local listings. I think it will be the prerecorded version if you are on the West coast instead of airing at an earlier time.

"The CMT special will air (LIVE) from the Sugar Mill in New Orleans on Saturday, February 2nd at 11 PM EST / 10 PM CST. Last year’s musical guests were Steven Tyler and Carrie Underwood. In 2011, CMT Crossroads delivered powerful performances by Faith Hill and the Pretenders."

I didn't even know the Pretenders were still around. Then again, I don't even know if I have CMT. The way these digital variety packages work, it's a toss up. I don't know ANY Rascal Flatts songs and to watch an Asian guy sing country might be something I can live without. Then again, it can't be any worse than seeing Def Leppard sing Taylor Swift songs.
Checking my local listings for that day, I see Unsealed: Alien Files is on at the same time, Might have to give that a peek. TV Guide only shows the Crossroads special on for one hour, with Redneck Vacation on at midnight. Hmm, I thought it was supposed to be a 90 minute performance? Maybe just the Television part is 60 minutes.

So it's recorded in advance. Makes sense since there are multiple showings.

They are just rehearsing. If you've seen Crossroads, some of the numbers are done as duets so they definitely need to practice. Pineda just arrived so his voice is probably going to be a bit off because of the weather too. Like the last time they had some type of Superbowl gig, it seems everything is going to be rushed again. Rascal Flatts definitely has the advantage here as those guys grew up singing Journey songs and even cover them in some of their concerts. Cain and Schon are pros and will have no problem either. The pressure is on Pineda more than anyone. It's a shame he can't come in a few days earlier for these types of situations to get acclimated to everything.

Crossroads has been known to flirt with tape if things aren't up to snuff so lets hope that won't be the case this show.

It's definitely gonna suck missing this. Any word on how long the set will be?

Stunning lack of professionalism if this is all true.

90 minutes if you are there at the show, one hour if you are watching it on TV. I think they do 7 or 8 songs for the broadcast and have 2 or 3 extras in case they release a DVD down the road.

Anyone know why I can't find it on CMT tonight? Unless it's because I have CMT Canada, which is complete shit. Really aggravated.

No. Says I can't from my location. And CMT Canada isn't playing it.

A few moments aside, this was a debacle of the highest order.

Ya know, in the back of my mind I was kinda sensing that it would be. The last time Journey did something on CMT it was treacherous as was their previous performance at the Super Bowl. So it just kinda fits that the combo of the two was somehow going to be less than stellar. That's too bad...

Musically it was great, vocally they had some fine moments of harmonization. But vocally, it was a tragedy.

Agreed. The two singers did not sound good together. I thought Wheel in the Sky was brilliant and Neal is always great. Throw the rest out, And I have to now question Arnel's ability to hit any high note going forward. It sounded way off to me. High energy though.

I saw part of the live stream, but will watch the entire program at 11 on TV. I'm curious if it will sound any different.
