I was... displeased, to say the least.

Looks like Loverboy is gonna get to do some deep cuts

Me too. I was really looking forward to Night Ranger. Don't care about Loverboy.

This is too bad, although I wouldn't have been at either of these concerts, but losing NR is losing a good part of the show.

Evansville. Passed on the show intially in favor of seeing Styx at The Ryman the same night, but the rescheduled date works for me. Win-win!

18 song setlist both shows with out Night Ranger. I thought they would do 20 at least to make up for the missing act. One song from Rev (NWA) and one from Eclipse (COH). Even I'm beginning to believe that Eclipse will in fact be their last full length original album.
When they break out classics like Stay Awhile instead of giving Arnel's contributions a nod by playing SAM or other tunes from post 1995 it really speaks volumes doesn't it?
Personally, I'm more than satisfied with Journey's catalog and won't sweat it if they are done with new material but for younger folks like Gideon, I do have empathy as this is "their" Journey and that the new album isn't getting four or five cuts a night like it was for us older guys during the Escape and Frontiers tours.

Of course, the concert goers who think that La Do Da is such a great choice compared to Chain Of Love or Edge Of The Moment probably think Stay Awhile is 100 times more worthwhile than Resonate also.

They played Rubicon the other night, I heard.
I hear ya Don. I don't get it and I don't understand why they won't throw in some certain songs. It's almost like they know the paint by numbers or connect the dot works and they are afraid of everything else. Journey has no balls anymore. It's been neutered, but apparently, they will continue to sell show after show and make their millions and could give a rat's ass about what you or I think. There must be a set dollar amount they make for a gig. It's like working for the post office. You do only the minimum requirement. Sad!

I have to guess it's tied directly to album sales. When I went to the Escape Shows, the first was limited new material because they were opening for the Stones but when I saw them again as the headliner, it was a given that they would play five new songs minimum. I mean, they had to, the crowd would have never let them get away with it. In class the day before a show, everyone always talked about which new songs they SHOULDN'T play as we knew we would hear at least half the album that night.
Journey keeps talking about all of the young fans they have going to the shows now but the disconnect is the majority of teens aren't coming for new stuff, they're showing up to hear the music their parents were listening to before they were even born. It's this weird universe where you got these 50+ year olds with their wrinkles and hair plugs up on stage trying to please 16 year old kids and 50 year old parents.

The lack of 'Resonate' is displeasing, yes.

I'm more worried about NR now, anyway. Who is sick? WTF is going on?

I have a feeling that it wasn't so much "illness" as them logistically not wanting to wake up the touring machine for three random shows in Michigan and Indiana on short notice. I bet it wouldn't have been financially sound to bring some crew, equipment, etc. on the road for five days compared to what they would take home each night in this position on the bill. Sounds like they are recording a new album and Joel keeps doing Rock Of Ages, so I bet they thought better of interrupting the album process for this.

Thanks for the info. I can breathe easier now. I can't imagine a world without Night Ranger.

Any news on John Spinks / The Outfield from The Source?

Thanks in advance, 'Bat.
