What would you rather see if a Steve Perry reunion happened?

What would you rather see if Steve Perry said he would rejoin the band for a one time reunion tour or a new album with him? He agrees to do one or the other and is going to let the fans vote on what they would prefer. This will only be a one time thing, 1 Journey album w/Perry or one last tour with the original lineup including: Smith, Valory, Schon, Cain, and Perry.
What would be your choice and why?

It doesn't make sense for Perry to simply join to only do the very thing he quit the band over... touring.
Further any reunion would like get interest from some major labels (like Sony), and they'd want an album in order to back the reunion (marketing support).
I'd have to think any reunion has to include an album, and the tour would be minimal.

Before I vote, does this assume Perry can sing up to par?

If Perry will give me a heavier TBF and not sing like shit, then I'll give Arnel the boot myself.

Yes, as much up to par as a 64 year old guy can sing!

Your thinking to much. Its just a hypothetical question thrown out there, just seeing what people would prefer.

My vote is to see the 1981-1983, 1996 lineup on a tour. I have always wanted to see Perry with Journey in concert and unfortunetly was never able to. I will take Steve Perry's voice from TBF on tour anyday over the current lineup. Just to witness the original lineup of Smith, Valory, Cain, Schon, and Perry all playing together...that would be truly awesome.

Sorry, thought it would be obvious that "B" was my choice....

I concur. Dude is already becoming a myth with the media, why ruin his image by going out there and giving subpar performances this late in the game. Just let the band keep touring the hits with AP or whoever.
Pineda was supposed to be the Beak slayer but two albums in and people still don't know his name and the likelihood of another release seems very remote at this point. Perry's legacy is secure and it seems like he's in a good place. Let the band do their thing while SP does his.
Since I saw an SP led Journey four times, I can say that. For those who never did, just be happy with the DVDs and albums that the man participated in. Don't let it all be tainted by him and Journey out there croaking along on stage simply for a money grab.

I highly doubt Steve could move around a stage.
And we already know he wouldn't even sit on a stool just for the grammys.
Would love one last album
and to see him do one last short set with the band,
and retire.

Haha.
You know, I picked album with Perry ONLY because it didn't say last. So...do an album with Perry and then tour with Arnel and then do an album with Perry and tour with Arnel......

Don't even need a whole album or tour with Perry. Just do a couple songs, perhaps for soundtracks, to plant the seed.
People will go absolutely nuts.
Then do about 10 shows in Las Vegas.
Everything will sell-out, including the back catalog once again.
Then Perry can go back to the beach, and everyone will have closure.
later~

I would prefer an album. Of course I would LOVE to see Perry perform but I don't feel confident he could on tour.
Another album is something I could keep forever. And, let's face it, Perry could be sweetened up on tape!

^ This.
I'm not convinced Perry can come close to capturing the oft-murmured "magic" of the heyday live. So give me a solid 13 track TBF/Eclipse hybrid and I'll be fine.

Don't want my last, and likely lasting, memory of Journey being a raspy, gaspy, just-can't-do it no matter how much I'd love to, Steve Perry.
He'd have done it by now if he could. Can't blame him at all for the way he's handled it.
One last studio album would be nice though.

LOL, not that lineup. I shouldn't have said original lineup, the most successful lineup maybe instead.

If the voice could sing, we'd have heard the 50 songs by now. But he talks real good. He should teach, coach, mentor ... Arnel's replacement.
A last album would be treasured but I voted tour cos dammit, I missed out on that magic and it ain't comin back

Wow…kept swaying between 1 & 2…everybody made excellent points. And, this is a fantasy vote, since the guys who actually have a say don’t count.
Having jumped on the fan-wagon yearsl after their last breakup, of course, it would be a dream come true and I would travel anywhere in the country to see them together on tour. But, as some alluded, do I really want to expunge from my mind those magic performances that are frozen in time on record/dvd, to be replaced by witnessing 5 old rockers trying to replicate their heyday?
So, I vote for 1 last album, which no doubt would be their best and most memorable. Knowing how SP operates, if his voice is not in shape, no way in hell an album would be forthcoming.
Having said that, I do wish and pray for this to happen (some day, while everyone is still alive). Brings closure to a fractured fanbase. The faithfuls deserve this.

Isn't the fantasy that SP can sing up to par? That the guys can all deliver their A game? Which is why I chose tour. A chance for some to relive the previous Perry/Journey magic or experience it for the 1st & last time. We all have the perfect sounding albums & DVD's already.
However, if the choice is between tour & album based on SP's current pipes, forget a tour. Rather an album that they can polish in studio.
All in our dreams though

Definitely a new album... at least they can re-do things till it sounds right.
Don't think Steve Perry could handle a tour. Personally I think they could do one last album and one last concert or maybe 2 shows and record them and make a Blu-ray with about 30 tracks
Bring back the past members to play in their songs and have the new members play in theirs. Rolie, Smith, Augeri & Perry

A Double Album; one disc with the classic Journey sound. The second disc with a lot of clean guitar and piano; mellow and easy listening. No bombastic choruses or anything like that. Stuff like "Still She Cries." Maybe get Jack Blades and Glen Burtnik in on the songwriting process too.

Perry's a loser. Not only has he pissed away his vocal talents, but also the unique and brilliant writing chemistry he shared with Jonathan. The dude is just not interested in creating anymore.
